I work for a resort and I do the editing for them, and I never realized how easy it is to link up music to skiing/snowboard footage, I mean really easy, I kind of lost respect for big name people, with the footage they have pretty much anyone with basic editing skills could make what they make. it is all based on the footage you have to make a good edit and thats it
yes i have, i dont care if i get "flamed" cause there really needs to be a change i dont care if it has a flow or he lands to a beat every time hits, thats nothing. i mean to make a ski documentary would be talent

i wish i could, if i had the money to go around the world, the money for a hifdef cam and with that cam flim the best skiers in the world i bet i could make a good movie
u just proved my point. it as a lot harder then u think to make a ski movie. so by caling them over rated u r saying that al the hard work like paying for equitment and finding skiers to actually ski for u is over rated. heck lets just not ski at all if thats the attitude you have. thats why when movies like east to west come out i give props to the editors because even simple movies like that which are very amature still take time to make. u say u edit shit for ur mountain..lets see it
ok I'm guessing 100% of you are kind of new to this whole park skiing thing and the movies for it seeing how must of you are 11-17, wait a couple of years until you keep seeing the same style of movie making oever and over and keep spending 30 bucks for the same style but with diffrent style of skiing, it gets old
okay just look at ski movies from 3 years ago and look at ski movies now... hugeeeee difference, ski movies are always going to progress and get better
and just to let u know...just because we are from boston and may only be 16 doesnt mean we ask momy and dady for money. i bought my entire ski set up with my money that i made over the summer. and i dont buy ski movies mostly because there is other things that i could put my money towards. probebly not anything that my parents would be proud of but i think ur getting the perception that just because we are 16 and cant survive without our parents that we are stuck up little snobs with money. and to tell u the truth living on ur own probebly cost alot and props for being able to afford living on ur own. it just seems like ur trying to put kids down because they still live at home.
no i just have a 100 days plus from last season and the one before that and i think around 60 the year before that, yeh i dont get on the hill as much as i would like to

Dude shut the fuck up, you really have no idea what you are talking about. Go watch high 5, shag 6, LSS, ski porn, war, x=10, you could NEVER do what they do. They don't just put footy to music, its a MUCH longer process then that, ever wonder why it takes ALL summer or longer for them to finish movies? You my friend are very ignorant.
What goes into editing a ski movie. Anyone know? I think you would just record it then put it on the comp slap some music on and fiddle with some tape. Then make some nice segways. Doesn't sound too hard. I don't really know becuase I've never made one.
ski films are creative visions of our sport... well most of that is true but yea ski movies are generally all the same and really boring these days.. besides LSS that is... mmmmmm

i disagree, have you ever seen Patchwork Patterns? i believe you said that skiing and snowboarding movies are weak, are you just basing this off of the 3 movies you saw this year? I think your exagerating a bit the whole process. You dont just hit record on a camera while it sits on the tripod then capture to the camera, add a song and trim the clips, thats rediculous! theres sooo much more work there, even that alone is quite a process with as much footy professional filmers get.
you guys are missing my point to the max, I'm just saying that kind of editing is easy, getting the footy not so much duh, they need to shake things up a bit in the way they make a movie, no more just seg, then bam another seg, some one goofing off, bam seg, they are all like this, and have been for years.
what would You like a bunch of clips of you thrown in randomly with pro's just randomly through out the whole movie but edit it to animal noises since music is way to easy to just put there and make it work
So what the fuck is your suggestion that they do?? Come on mister pro editor, what should they do!?!? Btw if u say ski movies suck, then you are pretty much saying snowboarding movies are average, which is completely false.
a good example is bike car and december, those movies are diffrent and good. really people dont be getting all pissy about someone that thinks diffrent jesus christ your all acting like i shot some one, just take it easy
Well when you claim you can edit better than PROFESSIONAL editors that make absolutely amazing movies, we are NOT gonna take it easy, bitch. You are an ignorant claimer. I'm still waiting to see how shitty your videos are.
It is not easy, you try editing so that it flows, you have to see what would go best to this music: long line or a long slow rail, or maybe a quick technical rail, or a jump with a slow spin but a jump with a fast spin might be better. Then you have to think would this shot flow well into this or maybe this shot should follow. Then adgusting clip length for the music, and altering the music so that it works well for the skiing, and you have to add color corection and how you want it to effect the vibe of the film. That brings up another can of worms what do you want your film to feel like? Then how are you going to do it with sound editing and visuals? how should the movie progress to get people stoked on it? And that is all relitvly basic. You still have to figure out after effects.
