Are you for real dude. Skiing switch is WAAAAAY harder. If your riding a board and hiting a booter you can SEE. hitting kickers switch on skiis you can't see shit. Also how many boarders do you see carving switch.... plenty, how many skiiers can do that??? STUFF ALL

I can snowboard switch very easily and im not that good of a snowboarder. Skiing switch is easy too but im a much better skier. When ur skiing switch ur facing the wrong direction so you cant see plus its hard to turn well and lean foward because ur knees are bending the wrong way. With snowboarding ur just facing the way ur not used too, a little practice and its easy.

when you ski switch you look over your shoulder, not only does that allow you to see but it also help initiate your turns. while insnowboarding you actualy have to learn it all over again. and also, he fealling of riding fakie on a snowboard is really weired. Inadition the the longer you spend riding natural on a snowboard the harder it is to learn switch, on skis its the opisite.

skiing switch is just a difficult mental block to get over, Your going down the hill backwards once you get over that its pretty easy, snowboarding switch seems like an easy concept but im assuming its fucking difficult, I tried it wakeboarding and for some reason seemed difficult, I think teir both equally difficult

skiing = going foward or backward.
snowboarding = going sideway own the hill on one side or another
To some people, one is easier then another.

skis are more stable on hard snow while snowbaords are more stable in powder

why would you compare them to eahc other?? some people think hitting a golf ball with a golf club is harder then hitting a ping pong ball with a racket. it's personnal abilities that matter.

For someonethat skis all the time and then hopped onto a snowboard and tried to go switch, I think they would find it much harder than riding switch on skis. For someone that boards a lot and then hopped on some skis, I think they would find that riding switch on skis is difficult but easier to learn than riding switch on a snowboard. The same applies to taking off and landing switch for both sports.

I tend to think that doing switch up on rails is easier for skiers to do as well.

how do you know they are riding switch? anways, snowboarding switch is hard. i only skied when i was way youing so i dont know about it switch, but i can say its wicked hard to ride switch on a snowboard. think about it, when you carve you are on one edge, while riding the oppisite way you are used to, its pretty hard. its scarier than you think too. especially on the east coast. if you catch a heel edge on a toeside turn right to ice, yeah rpetty painful. im sure that can happen skiing too but just throwing it out there

To test it out go run and jump on your skateboard switch and ride fast, its alot harder than it looks. Although once you get the hang of it its pretty easy. I snowboard so I would know. I've never tried to ski switch though so I can't compare them. I guess if anything its not as hard as it is akward.

I say switch takeoffs are easier on snowboards, but carving is way easier on skis. But the weird thing is, on my board I am natural, and the same with every other board, except for k2 www's... when I ride my mates one I ride goofy, well switch. And yeah I ski as well

ive snowboarded for eight years, and can say with 100% certainty that skiing sw is a thousand times harder than snowboarding sw. far and away. once you get the feel of it (can be done in less than a day if you try) its the exact same as riding regular. skiing sw on the other hand, is a totally different motion. you cant see, your weighting is totally different (unless your skiis are mounted dead center) and by virtue of the fact that you have to be looking over a shoulder your body position is totally different. unless you ski way unorthodox, i dont think youre twisting your upper body way to the side every time you make a turn when skiing forwards. when skiing switch youre twisted way to one side, and changing shoulders with you turn most likely.

anyone who says different is a liar. theres a reason were only just beginning to see switch lines in in the BC, and its not because skiing backwards is too easy.

this is so true.  Carving on a snowboard switch is so much harder than you guys think.  Because alot of snowboarding is balence, when you go switch not only is youre stance diferent, but you're balencing is off too , which makes it really easy to catch an edge and eat it.  I'd say skiing is easier, and the only really hard part is looking over your shoulder.

This pretty much sums it up. The fact is, snowboarding switch is exactly the same as regular, except for your head tells you otherwise so you think it is harder+muscle memory. It is don't try and say differently. Skiing switch, your legs bend differently your weight is different. Everything.

i dont really care if a snowboarder does a switch trick cause its just the same as a goofy foot guy doing a regular trick.
switch on skiis is way cooler than switch on snowboard also

switch on skis isnt that hard to get and snobording is like learning how to ride all over again....and expecially landing switch isnt that hard on skis on snow bording you hav to learn how to carve all over again...snobaording is easyer switch if your just gonna bomb to the jump and land then your screwed when u try to carve

Exactly. Lines have been done switch on a snowboard that I can tell you right now, will never be done switch on skis. Not to be pessimistic, but there are just more limitations. Another example would have to be pipe skiing and riding.

snowboarding switch is definitely harder. skiing backwards is easy for me and was not hard to learn. even riding a snowskate or skateboard switch is hard, imagine it on a snowboard

haha your such a joke. Thats so funny. Ive snowboarded and its the same motion, just backwards, and once you can go regular, goofy (or vice versa) is no problem. SKiing switch on the other hand is hard because you need to have the neck motions down, which takes time. There both hard, but I think boarders have the advantage.

yeah... i snowboard and going switch isnt too difficult. it's the same thing as regular... just opposite. skiing you have to look over your shoulder and shat, hard.

I'm pretty good at skiing switch. But there's a lot of places that I could ski when i was 12  that wouldn't even try skiing switch now. Hell, I wouldn't try MOST chutes, couloirs, or glades switch. But a lot of my snowboarding friends have no problem riding switch in these places.

i'd say in general snowboarding switch is harder, except for the fact that they aren't going backwards down the hill. also, landing switch on skis i think is harder, and it def hurts more to case switch on skis. but either way it looks way better on skis!

how can you say it is easyer on skis.  When I snowboarded I could ride goofy almost just as easily as normal.  Although your bindings are twisted a little the wrong way when you are riding switch there is no comparison to skiing switch

snowboarding is so similar, if you take away that we are forward and have two boards, everything else is very very similar. the movements, carving, and most of all the feelings are almost the same.

i thought that it would be easier snoboarding since its like that for me skateboarding, but after hearing all this, i think its probably is harder on a snowboard just because of the mechanics of it

I'm a snowboarding crossing over to skiing and I can ride switch just as easily as regular. I hope to at least start learning switch by the end of this season, I've already been skiing twice and am pretty confident going forward lol. It's amazing how much easier it is to learn the second sport than it is to learn the first.

i din't give a shit about difficulty, you just have to sack up and committ to learning it either way.  however, there is alot of stuff that is straight up impossible sw on skis that is possible on a snowboard; mo matte how hard it is, its still physically possible, where on skis it isn't.
