snowboarders see easier, skiiers keep balance easier, skiiers turn easier, snowboarders tricks are easier switch.

well I think for snowboarders it's harder to learn but once they have it it's easier because essentially it's the exact same as riding normal and plus they can see and dont' have to switch shoulders they look over and what not when turning

Snowboarding switch is very similar to snowboarding regular, because you start still facing forward, just a different foot forward. Now skiing switch, you are going BACKWARDS so take off is blind(well kinda) and landing is blind(also kinda) and we have to look over the shoulder to see. So as you can see, skiing switch is harder.

snowboarding switch is harder. Its a completely different motion. Skiing switch, it is blind, but you carve and such in pretty much the same way.

I have, and as a beginner i found going goofy or regular was about the same, no beginner skier could stay they could go the same regular and switch.

Fucking around going back and forth on a snowboard as a beginner does not give you a real sense at all. Every snowboarder goes through that phase of switching back and forth since they can't carve both ways yet. No skier learns going between backwards and forwards so thats a stupid comparison.

Landing in deep snow switch and riding away is easier on a snowboard than on skis, but in park I believe skiing is easier. There's shit thats much harder on skis than on a snowboard but switch is not one of them.

def landing in pow is easier on skis but it can be hard on a board depending on your stance, if its not centered or forward you will easily nose in, riding switch in pow on a board is VERY hard, probably as hard as skis. also carving switch on a board is REALLY awkward because the weight is on a different foot;your stance is different;your feet are usually pointing the wrong way. clearly you cant say which is harder its all different aspects.

Landing backwards in pow is much more difficult on skis. In general switch is easier on a snowboard. I know plenty of good but not great snowboarders who can cruise switch pretty easily, more so than skiers. Skiing is just fundamentally different, you are going backwards, not sideways. Skiing may well never catch up in terms of landing backwards in powder because it is simply more difficult to do. The same way snowboarders will never be able to go as fast as skiers do. There are simply differences between the two sports.

skiing switch is more difficult to master. the going backwards landing blind thing is the real difference. Personally, approaching a gnarly rail or cliff switch is so much harder on skis than on a snowboard. And Yes, i have snowboarded quite a bit.

i have actually and skiing switch is harder than snowboarding switch. snowboarding switch is exactly the same motions with just a different foot forward. skiing switch puts you in a completely different motion (unless your knees bend backwards) than skiing regular.

how far and fast have you snowboarded switch? probably not very fast or far cuz it's hard shit. I can ski switch for ever at full speed, its so fucking easy. If you think skiing switch is harder than snowboarding switch then you must suck at skiing

well when i used to snowboard, i would pull 3-4 switch runs per day with my friends. considering they were mainly level 2-3 snowboard instructors and the last one to the bottom had to pay for beers, you might say i was riding fast!

maybe you just suck at snowboarding?

snowboarding switch is much harder than skiing switch but i think skiing looks much cooler cuz you cant always tell a snowboarder is going switch, with skiing you obviously know as soon as you see someone doing it

i think it varies...i have some boarder friends who pretty much picked it up instantly and others struggle with it. Its the same with skiing. It all depends on the rider

yeah dude i found snowboarding switch pretty damn easy to do, and yeah i have done it fast and off jumps. but there are some people who have a shitload of trouble going switch.
im a much much better skier and i still have trouble skiing switch, carving is a totally different motion, snowboarding switch is the same just one foot forward instead of the other, so at first it can be really hard but once you can do it pretty well, you have it down.

For me snowboarding switch was way harder. skiing swtch is basicaly the same thing took me a couple days to get the general hang of it. still not so good at switch on a snowboard.

Whoa I actually agree with somebody on here. There is no question skiing switch is more difficult than on a snowboard all around. If you've done a lot of snowboarding you know that terje could kick the shit of you threw a racecourse switch. However it would be amazing if somebody was way better at skiing switch through any terrain than skiing forward. It would be alot like Bob Burnquist's switch skating.

its two different motions all together and its not as easy as saying one is harder then the other. i'd say more snowboarders could do a switch front board or switch 5050 as compared to skiiers being able to do a switch on.

they are two entirely different processes.
theoretically, snowboarding switch is the easiest since it is the same as natural riding, only the other way around. adjust your stance, and practice, and you could eventualy be equally comfortable switch.

skiing however, there is always a disadvantage of not properly seeing where your going, jumping or landing, no matter how comfortable you are.

Doesn't it depend A LOT on the person and how goofy/regular he is? Some people are just naturally good with any foot forward, while others are really clumsy on at least one side.

And stop being such a retard, you've posted your opinion once we heard it. No need to reply YES or NO to every. single. post.

That being said, skiing switch is easier than skiing forward, it's just scary and you don't see much, especially wearing a hoodie it can get complicated.

snowboarding in general is easier to master, so therefore switch riding was easiest for me.  I learned switch skiing when my kids were very little (went back to skiing) skiing switch proficiently is harder.

Now, I had skateboarding skills in the 80's so maybe thats why snowboarding was easy for me.

they are both not that hard i imagine.  it comes down to pow and steep/gnar shit.  can a pro straight-line a steep, narrow bc chute (non-pow) switch on a snowboard?  on skis?  (maybe the better question is would they)
the argument that its hard to land sw in pow for some snowboards because they are not center mounted is retarded; you can say the same thing for skis.
can a skier ski any reasonable line switch? hell fucking no-we can stomp some sw landings in pow and turn around, but there's no way skiers and snowboarders can ski comparable lines switch in pow/ak/bc.  the ability of snowboarding to dick around and do 180s and butters in pow is the single thing attracting me towards it.

snowboarding switch is much easier. It is just the same as normal once you get used to it. Skiing backwards is still skiing backwards even when you get used to it, you have to twist around a lot and your legs dont bend the right way.
