well being Canadian, most of our music industry is influenced if not dominated by the States.

But there is law that Canadian networds, must have 25% of the air time to Canadians artists/ programs.

As for tv Canadian networs make normally shitty low budget tv shows to cover this air time to save money and just buy American shows.

But once and a while they create a decent show, and there are some great Canandian artists getting huge in Canada.And im ust curious if they're gaining popularity in the States.

So my question is for Americans, are any Canadian artists like Billy Talent or Alexisonfire popular in the states?

ANd as for tv shows I cant think of any popular Canadian shows, umm Degrassi! Is that big in the states?

Just curious.

I've heard of billy talent, but i dont think he's popular, but there are other popular canadian bands like Sum 41 and Nickelback and isnt jim carey canadian

yeah sum 41 and nickelback are dope. and when i was in 8th grade during homeroom class or whatever it is... we were forced to watch Degrassi once a week becuase "degrassi helps kids understand the changes in life they are going through and help them deal with their adolescent situations" yeah fuck middle school i think i've gone somewhat mentally retarded from watching that show. but anyway, its always on this one channel, i don't watch it but im sure some people do if its always on lol

oh dear. its not a matter of having perfect taste... its a matter of having any taste. i could see sum 41 tricking you... but nickleback could be possibly the worst band ever. im serious. the worst. search around a bit and you will see the light. im guessing youre kind of a youngster, and havnt been exposed to much legit music, so i could kind of understand. and i guess you could look at it like this: if you like nickleback, you can only go up from there.

You're forgetting a major Canadian TV show that is just starting to make it's way into the US with the new movie.

I should also add that when I had TV, I watched a lot of independent and Canadian TV shows because, unlike mainstream shows, they focus on creating something original instead of creating something that's going to give the creators a massive paycheque.
