So your board is turning 90 degrees? Or is it just not spinning a full rotation? I would say for if its turning dont push out as much. If your not getting a full rotation get more of a flicking motion with your ankle and foot
yeah it sounds like you need to pop the tail and then flip, rather than start the flip before you pop your ollie. it will flip slower but you can catch it in the air this way, and then be able to take the kickflip down stair sets or off objects. pop higher and kick less, and suck your knees up.
keep back foot centered on tail
dont push the flip, flick it with your foot
suck knees up more
catch the board mid air so if it is a little off you can adjust before you come down.
