I dont really know why I'm posting this, just i feel like letting some anger out. So anyways, i go to this summer camp for about 7 weeks every summer. Its not a big camp, and everyone is pretty close with eachother there. The counselors get a "day off" every week where they can leave the camp in the adirondacks and go wherever they want. Most of them go to this place called split rock. Anyways, it had rained a ton that summer, and it was the last day of camp. It was august 12th 2003, the day before camp ended. These 4 guys who were really close with me, were screwing around eating lunch on one of the rocks. One of them got up to ask what time they were staying until, and he fell into the water. Normally, it wouldnt be a big deal that he fell in, but since it rained so much, the water was rushing so hard that someones body doesnt even float in the water. So everyone didnt realize he was struggling to stay afloat. Then, they saw, and the other 3 jumped in. Everyone else was at another spot not too far down, and we all rushed over there. Someone had called 911, and they arrived there about the same time that the cops did. Most of the counselors are about 20 years old, and these counselors were about the same age. When everyone got there, there was nothign they could do, and they couldnt stay afloat any longer. All 4 of them drowned. That night the other counselors came back and we knew something was wrong. Usually counselors come back wasted and fuck around with us, but everyone was just not talking. They decided to tell us at an all camp meeting, and just hearing th camp director say they drowned was so painful. Its so weird thinking about how 2 minutes before they left i was talking to them about how they should have a kick ass time on there last day off. I was only 12 then, so i didnt understand as much as now about what happend as i do now. I dont want anyone replying calling me a faggot or gay, just because i really cared abotu and looked up to these guys. RIP Adam Cohen, Dave Altschuler, Jonah Richman, Jordan Satin
