I currently have some old 1080s, like 03-04. I ski NE, like 50%park, 50%groomer,glades,etc. Im looking for a ski that will do well in the park, but still rip up the groomers, and float well on the occasional new england powder day. Im 16, around 5 feet 9 inches tall,a intermediate-advanced skier and around 120lbs. After doing some resarch I have decided on either 2007 line chronics, 1080 foils, or maybe the k2 PE's. I like my old 1080s, but they are outdated, and dont perform as well for all mounatin as I would like. What should I get?
i would probably go with the chronics. they are a good ski and lines hold their value really well so if you are looking to sell you can get a good price for them.
Im a light guy, do you think the chronics would be a little too stiff? How would they be in powder, would I be better off getting last years chronic wides? The chronis do sound like a durable ski, and I like that.
Chronics are a pretty durable ski but since you are so light I would suggest the foil. The only problem is that after 1 or 2 seasons the foam core gets noodley, but since your so light it probably wouldn't make that much of a difference.
I would like to get some durable skis that they will actually last me. Are there any good all mountain/park skis with medium flex, and that will float well on a powder day? Would it be that much of a problem if I got the chronics?
It wouldnt be too much of a problem, but may I suggest the FUJATIVES. I had the first years and the are a fairly stiff but not too stiff ski. And I skiied plenty of pow in them. The softest part would be the tip but it really stiffens up in the tail.
