Darksides-disappointment

last years darksides were oh so nice, equal height twins, i little plain, but still cool. This year, they turn it into a Verse, but give it the sickest fucking graphics ever seen. How i love the looks of this ski, but goddamn them for giving it the same tail height as a Salomon Verse!

sorry, i know the skis have been around for awhile, but i wanted the skis so bad until i figured out the tail thing...i look at them and go....wow, why?

i think they are the sickest graphics ever....the black with the computer/robot 'line' writing, with the spacey guy on the tail....they are hot...

i wrote line an email asking why they did this, i'm awaiting a reply

We still make 14 different sizes and models of skis that are twin tip. What was the old Darkside 182 is now the Twelve Sixty 182. We made the new Darkside with a lower tail to gain more running surface and edge length for increased edge hold. There are lots of people that want to ride Line but are scared of the full twin tip tail so we've made more of an all mtn ski for them, the goal is that over time as they become comfortable with Line they will slowly move more and more into the newschool skis and eventually someday probably own a pro model. The darkside is a ski that will bring more people into our side of the sport so that it will continue to grow. Its the bridge between a traditional ski and a twin tip.

i just don't see lines reason behind decreasing the tail height, i mean they said it was a groomer shreding machine but you could do that without a smaller tail

the reason in decreasing the tail is to get older people to buy their skis because they are hanging onto the ski market by a piece of dental floss.

The lower tail also gives the ski more running surface. A twin-tipped ski probably loses a good 5cm or so in length due to the fact that the surface area of the tail is not in contact with the snow.
