Go get some P12s for sure, but mount them true center because you are wasting your time trying to take those skis to a big mountain line. just make them a park ski.

Pick up a pair of P12's on ebay for them, or PM enigma88 ...he had some P12 demos for sale for like, 75 bucks, really cheap. But don't be a dick to your Dad about it, explain why you want the P12, explain the pivoting heelpiece that will release laterally in a twisting fall to save your knees, it shows maturity and that you're thinking about safety, instead of just being a rebelious asshat and saying you want one thing cause he wants you to have something else.

The Px series has the best forward pressure in the industry, and the toepiece is arguably the safest releasing toepiece in ski bindings. Read: Your knees are safer. Plus: Possibly the most durable binding that is not a race stock. And a great warrenty to boot if they do break. This should convince him.

If it were me, I'd but the P12...the PX heel doesn't pivot, and therefore, isn't as safe. I know the PX has more forward pressure, but I'm willing to trade a little of that for the pivoting heel and my ACL.
