allright thanks. iv noticed that skiing with someone better than you gets you to push alot harder. ill take this opportunity to ask another question :P
i have some old ass boots. pretty sure i need to get new ones, last time i checked there was a discussion involving the pros and cons of soft boots. whats the way to go now? soft or not?

smoke weeeeeeeeed. just kidding just go into stuff totally confident! thats def the most important. Just knowing exactly how you are gonna move your skis or your body beforehand is waaay key to learning new stuff

last season i probably got a week of back country
the rest park i guess.

soft are better for park, while stiffer are better for back/all mountain

depends on what you ski
soft is more for park
stiff is more big mtn
medium works all over
but its realy all preference

my rule of progression:
once you have completed a certain trick, move onto the next.
example - if you can 360 and land it a lot of the time and are comfortable throwing it, progress and try a 5. however if you can do 3's but only on small jumps and they're sketchy, dnt try a 5. also if you can 3 perfectly than dnt not try a 5 cuz your scared. ur not gunna ever be less scared so its now or never.

sweet. thanks alot.
the boots iv been wearing till now were part of a ski package that i got for christmas probably 3 seasons ago before i started jibbing. the entire thing; skis, bindings, and boots cost about 350 bucks.
i feel like iv gotten my moneys worth.

did you know that pouring aftershave in your boots makes the stench of them increase exponentially?

yea keep it chill and shit will happen

yeah and 16 is also divisible by 4..whats your point
Aftershave is difficult to pour, because it is generally pressurised in a can, so you would be more likely to 'spray' than 'pour'

yeah i gotta lange boot with medium flex

a lot of contradicting replies on this thread. learn core tricks, and from there your tricks will multiplie. yea hard bails make you want to quit but suck it up and dont fall

Just like,
Step 1: watch a video, be like, "That is quite sick! I want to be sick! i shall preform that aerial maneuver!!!"
Then something along the lines of...
Step 2: Make sure you have both your testicles intact and verbally announce, that they are both intact and, in fact in excellent condition. Make sure females are informed of this information at the present time.
Then I'd say....
Step 3: Grab your balls and HUCK DAT SHIT!
Step 4: It's kind of mixed.... either you eat shit and chicks disrespect your balls. Or u land some stuff... and progress or whatever.

Just huck it or throw it, doesn't matter as long as your having fun. Who cares if it doesn't loook great , everyone starts somewhere and you are the only judge that matters.

I found that there are 3 types of learning/learners
1- Huck and hope. some people are really good at this but they'l never have the steeze of number 2 or 3. Theyre gonna spin an ugly 1080 before grabbing a 5...
2- Slowly but steezy. Those are the people who are more of pussies(but its ok to be a pussie). They learn very slowly and don't move on to anything else until they dial their trick perfectly. Number one will seem more impressive to non-newschoolers (ie: WOW a BACKFLIP!)but the two of them have worked probably as much.
3- The mix of the two, wich some people have so much facilty doing so that it makes people like me jealous. Those people are the ones who become pro skiers, not everyone can be like this.
Yhea, thats it...

yeah i think iv reached the same conclusion. I am the number one category, i can spin um, too much, according to my actual skill level.
thats why i want to know what "good" is. so, uh, learn to grab in my rotations?

Dont just get stuck on one thing, once you stick something dont get hung up on how fun it is, move on as soon as you are comfortable, otherwise you will end up like me. As for what is good, when you can keep up with the people you ski with and/or do almost everything your park/mountain has to offer you are probably good eneough. There are going to be a lot of different deffinitions of good, but basically when you are happy with what you can do and are having fun you are as good as you should need to be.

to progress you have to eliminate fear to some extent.

i did have fun today.
followed some peoples advice. first day on a pair of skis this year.
we took snow from the zamboni at the ice rink up here and railed som stuff. (our snow was rained away last week)
i also set a goal and met it. was also the worst person in the group. by the end of the day dont think i was anymore :P
whats more prestigous, being able to rail both ways (relatively comfortable unatural) or spinning on/off?
