Are rails that bad for my skis?

I just bought a new pair of Armada Arvs, and it ran me a thousand bucks with bindings. I did rails on my old skis (olddd head mad trix) and they seemed to take it just fine, but wondering, just how bad are rails on your edges and stuff. Ive heard some horror stories, but also seen park rats with same skis for 3 years. So is it safe to do rails lots or should i save a couple paychecks and buy some used skis for rails/rocks?

the problem is, if you hit a rail you will not be able to warantee your armadas for ANYTHING, BECAUSE ARMADA IS MADE of CHEAP BITCHs who wouldnt replace my skiis after three weeks

i dont think rails are that bad for skis, ive never had any problems sliding rails except for the occasional edge getting caught on a box or what not, im sure if u come into a box with lots o speed, catch and edge, and fall forward, the edge might rip off but im not sure

depending on how hard u are landing on your edges on rails and shit, will help prevent you from breaking edges...or not.
i got a pair of volkl karmas this seaosn and heard they are bombproof and a half. they are my park skis. since my "all-mountain" consists of a 65m vertical.
