im pretty sure Canadians should stick to what they know best. that is making maple syrup and growing body hair.... notice how politics were not mentioned...
Yeah good luck with that... pretty much everyone right or left (except Ken Mehlman who I'm pretty sure lives in a parallel universe, because he's sure not in this reality) agrees that the only question left in the house isn't whether the Dems will control it, but by how many seats. I'm saying the pick up 24. In fact, POOL! Guess how many seats the Dems will pick up. For reference, famous Douchebag of Liberty Robert Novak says 19 in congress, 2 in the senate.
I say, 24 in congress, 4 in the senate (I wish for six... but it's a longshot).
2 Senate seats already done! Oh, and update: 60% reporting on the Jim Webb (D) George "Notorious Asshole and Racist" Allen (R) race. They currently stand at 50% for Allen, 49% for Webb, but there's a margin of error obviously. So... Dead heat!
im only 17 so obviously didnt vote... but i defintly think they congress is gonna be democratic... republicans havent been helpin thier cause much either i.e. foley
I almost wouldn't be that bummed if the Republicans kept control. If the Democrats gain control you can be sure the Republicans will criticize them if anything at all goes wrong in Iraq. So basically, if everything is totally opposite of what's going on now if the Democrats gain control we'll be golden.
And I have msised your melodramatic praise. I hope the only reason you haven't been in touch is because you've been composing an opera about me which you will sing, in a private audience, when you come up to BC next.
At 9 p.m. ET, these other races also had projected winners:
* Delaware: Incumbent Democrat Thomas Carper over Republican Jan Ting.
* Florida: Incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson over Republican Katherine Harris, a two-term House member who made her name overseeing Florida’s recount in the disputed 2000 presidential election. Her campaign was marked by a lack of money, staff changes and little support from party leaders.
* Indiana: Republican Sen. Dick Lugar, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, coasted to a sixth term. Democrats did not field a candidate against Lugar and he took a 7-to-1 lead in early returns against Libertarian candidate Steve Osborn.
* Massachusetts: Democrat Ted Kennedy secured an eighth term, defeating Republican Ken Chase.
* Michigan: Incumbent Democrat Debbie Stabenow over Republican Michael Bouchard.
* Minnesota: Democrat Amy Klobuchar over Republican Mark Kennedy.
* Mississippi: Incumbent Republican Trent Lott over Democrat Erik Fleming.
* Maine: Incumbent Republican Olympia Snowe over Democrat Jean Hay Bright.
* North Dakota: Incumbent Democrat Kent Conrad over Republican Dwight Grotberg.
* New Mexico: Incumbent Democrat Jim Bingaman over Republican Alan McCulloch.
* New York: Incumbent Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton over Republican John Spencer.
* Texas: Incumbent Republican Kay Bailey Hutchison over Democrat Barbara Ann Radnofsky.
* Vermont: Political independent Bernie Sanders won the seat now held by another independent, retiring Sen. James Jeffords, guaranteeing that the next Senate will have at least one independent.
* West Virginia: Re-elected to a ninth term was Democratic Sen. Robert Byrd, who at 88 is the oldest and longest serving senator in the nation’s history, 48 years.
* Wisconsin: Incumbent Democrat Herb Kohl over Republican Robert Large.
* Wyoming: Incumbent Republican Craig Thomas over Democart Dale Groutage.
It is funny how everyone thinks that this is some special election where it is amazing the the democrats are winning seats, because historically with two term presidents the second off year election is one where the party in power loses. Reagan, Clinton, and Bush, it happens to them all. I voted republican, but it doesn't matter if the democrats win congress because eventually people get tired of them (just like they did with the GOP and have in the past) and change which party is in power.
You caught me. Performances are the 18th and 19th of this month; tickets are $75 advance or $400 at the door.
I should be back up there the weekend after next to visit the kid (Sage). In case you didn't hear, the ex nearly killed him by leaving out multiple giant bags of Halloween chocolate (which lead to Sage staying in the ER for the better part of a week). If your schedule isn't too full, we should get together for sushi or something (remember, like last time!).
I hate school. My nomadic instincts are kinking back in; time for another move next fall, if you can believe it, ha.
See this is why every time I turn on my phone, it says "Commit"... you gotta start, you're going to be living in a tent and riding a camel pretty soon. Yeah my sched should be able to fit in some sushi. I missed a date yesterday for some and now I'm in withdrawl.
But I sure as fuck am not paying 400$ for an opera even if it is about me! I've seen 2 already this year coming to a sum total of 25$.
PS: Republican Jim Talent leads Claire Mcaskill and R Bob Corker leads D Harold ford in their races, but by very slim margins, so they're not being called yet.
Hahaha. I'm just transferring schools, silly. The one I'm at right now is ridiculously unorganized, and it's really deterring me from school (which I, obviously, don't want). See, so it's not all bad.
I have a few options, right now. U of H at Manoa is the most likely (very good marine bio program, offering me great scholarships, best friend attends school there, etc.), but there's no snow there. Another option is OSU (also known for their marine bio program). If I choose neither of these, I'll most likely end up at another Oregon university. I'm starting on official applications in the very near future.
It looks like Webb might win in VA, and McCaskill's people are very confident as well. Harold Ford is done, I think, so if that happens, the race comes down to Montana... If Tester wins, the Dems win the Senate.
KEEP IN MIND, also, though, that the two independents tend to vote democratic.
