The SPK Boot

i went to the ski and snowboard expo in portland yesterday and salomon was kind enough to let me try on and walk around in some SPKs. i gotta say, they were almost as comfy as my shoes, they were noticably lighter than the other boots ive worn and fit great. im really considering buying a pair.

anyone else have comments or critique about them? im interested in what everyone else have to say about this

I met with a salamon rep about 2 weeks ago. He took them apart and basically its everything you can ever want in a boot. There is about a 1.5 inch gell heel piece to help you when you case, overshoot, or just land hard to prevent heel bruises. There is also more room in the toe/foot area to help with balance. The toung is made to help lesson shin bang. I liked the 2 buckles and 1 thick velcro strap too. If thats not enough, they have bottle openers on the side and I believe they come with a 2 year waranty. This is probabally more than you want to know, but I hope it helped. peace

im actually getting them today...ya i got to ride them for a day ot hood this summer and they were the sickest boots ever...i hate salomon but you gotta love these boots

yeah once everyone tries them on they will know. I'd say theyre a cross in comfort between my rollerblade boots and snowboard boots. you can get them from proctorjones.com for 380. seems worth it. I havent skied them yet but i can imagine how solid they will be. and all this talk about them not being good outside the park...in most the videos this year you see alot of people riding them in the backcountry. werd

The SPK's are all that Salomon promised and more...
The talk that they are mushy and won't ski is way off base, they flex much the same as the foil; just lighter with a more progressive stance...

wow thats so...progressive. they should make boots that are like pocket knives and shit. you can flip out knives, toothpicks, scissors all that good stuff

Question, how do you all fit your boots? I've been told that your toes should be touching the end of the boot when ur standing up straight, but barely touching or not at all when in the "skiing position". Is there a different way to fit when your a freestyler?

Honestly, after walking around in them, I think they will be solid outside the park. I dunno as long a boot is comfortable, I never have a problem taking it wherever, but thats just me.
