I've never cut hdpe but have cut half inch plexi glass. The way we did it was we took the blade out of our table saw and flipped it arround. Then when it cuts it does it really slow and the friction from the blade kinda makes it melt/cut instead of fracture.
HDPE is a much softer material though so you could probably cut it like normal.
is a rotary saw just like a heavy duty dremel? if it is just put a plastic blade on it and youll be fine or if you odnt use a blade that has the most teeth
