Lift Stories

Hey
People have post stuff about shit they saw on the lift in threads, but there is no thread for it all. So here it is. Post your lift stories, it can be anything at all. Heres mine.

I was going up the lift during night sking and it was dead silent because it was a pretty crappy night and no one was around. So I was sitting there by myself when all of a sudden I heard what soounded like a gun shot. I almost shat my pants. Turns out it was a tree that had been iced up by a snow gun and it couldn't take it anymore so it commited tree suicide and cracked off. Pretty cool.

Another time my friends and I were about to get on the lift and this guy flies by us and gets on the lift we were getting on. We didn't care and stopped and got the next one. So half way up the hill he lifts up the saftey bar thing and hurls himself off of the chair. He landed on his side and snapped a ski in the process. Then he picked it up and tried to ski off, but ski patrol caught time.

And there were a bunch of times when people have dropped shit off the lift of double ejected their skis some way, but thats really not a story.

The other day I was on the lift and some kid, probly 10-12 years old comes flyinng down the hill, trying to pizza slow down or whatever but it wasnt working, he was going straight down, yelling like nuts, and he got moving pretty fast, they had a really bad crash, 2 runs later I hear yelling I look down and its the kid again, absolutelly hauling down the trail, and proceeded to crash again.

The same night I saw a snowboard come down almost the whole run by itslef, riding oversome skis and getting some good air, could have really deckked someone.

When I was 4 years old in Kids Kamp at Blackcomb I puked mostly hot chocolate all over a ski instructor who was underneath while I was riding the magic chair. I can't believe it actually hit him...

my friend pissed off the lift one time
and we saw a kid in front of us fall about 15 feet and then spit out blood and ski back into the lift line.

yea at smuggs i saw a kid fall off the lift one time, that shits scary, especially when you are helpless to do anything.
then another time i saw some kid run into the lift pole and there was blood all over the snow, that was kinda fucked up

This on time i was on the lift and i hear someone yell " HELP ME IM GOIND TO DIE!!!!!" so i whip my head around and see this women trying to snowplow( it wasent working) going straight down the hill with her arms in the air and she crashes straight into the lift line and knocks like 8 people over like bowling pins, her being the bowling ball because she was FAT. she ended up with a broken leg.

way back when i was like 11 or 12, me and my buddy were shouting 'grab a straw cause you suck' to every single person we saw skiing. if that is not the weakest story on this thread, i will be pleased with myself

word, i was at glen eden and my friend's mother was standing in front of a wall, when a kid came plowing down the hill, and his skiis hit the tile and he flys foreward and fuckin torpedoed her in the tummy. had she not have been there he would have been omelettes (he had no helmet)

This story probably won't be as funny as it was to see. Anyway, I was skiing at Welch, and my friend and I are waiting down by the lift for the other 2 guys we were skiing with. So one of them comes flying down and tries to spray us with snow. Somehow his edges caught weird or something, because instead of spraying us, he turned right into a sign that was mounted on one of the supports for the lift. So he smokes the sign with his face, and turns the sign a full 90 degrees. Then, while he's falling to the ground, he hits his face again on a garbage can, and then he lands on a cross beam supporting the lift. And then to top it all off, our other friend comes in and sprays him while he's lying there on the ground. The liftee had this great look of shock/amusement on his face, so I go "Don't help him. Please just laugh." So after laughing for a while and watching the liftee struggle to turn the sign back into place, we get on the lift, and the guy who hit the sign goes "Yeah, I was gonna spray you guys, but that sign looked on me funny." I still chuckle every time I think about it.

Thank god he was wearing a helmet and goggles though, he would have been pretty messed up.

I was on the Lift with one of my friends, and we see this old guy about to jump off a jump, and just 4 feet before the jumps he somes how falls and front flips into the woods. And then he went to try again. It was pretty damn funny.

so i had this girl in a lesson the other day (im an instructor) and i really wanted to leave so i was guna let her off 15 mins early. but then one chair ride up she was saying how she had no friends and shit so i was like aw i feel bad, ill stay with her for another 15 mins. so the next ride up, she's telling me all this shit about how she has no friends and her school sucks, and im like giving her all my attention. then BAM! she lifts up the bar soo hard right into my face. needless to say, i left her at the top and peaced out early after that.


oh, and not a lift story but its funny. so at the top of the park there's a shack where we keep all of our rakes and shovels and stuff. and all over the walls is a bunch of porn. we used to have the windows boarded up until two days ago. so yesterday some kid goes right up to the window and just starts staring at it all, and he proceeded to do it everytime he came up the lift. i dont think he knew we were in there hahaha.

my buddy and me were riding up, and these two guys (like 50years old) offered us a weed hit, but before we could take it, one of the guys fell off the lift like 45 feet

way back i was up on normans at timby and i was going up the lift on a sunny day.. and there was a alpine agro stance snowboarder making carves down the hill and then he goes from heel to toe and catches hauling ass as shit.. and dslames hid face goggles shatter and his board pops off and he thomahawks 2 times turns over and starts puking and convulsions and shit.. the dude was realy realy fucked...

I had a girl on the lift ask me if skunks lived in the snow because she could smell one. XD

When I was about eight, I was riding the chair and when I got to the top my pole got stuck on something or another. So instead of dropping the pole and getting off, I stayed on and let the chair go around the bullwheel and then I fell off. It was only about 7 or 8 feet and the snow was soft so I was fine, but I was pissed at the time.
My friends sister fell off the lift while riding up with me, and I laughed at her. (She was okay)

I got my first kiss on a lift.... how cute lol :)

I was a Okemo last year during presidents week and they had just put in a new step-up box. I was sitting on the charilift w/ my dad and this knuckle-dragger comes flying down the hill to hit the box. He did realize that it was a set-up and ended up flying 20ft down throught the park.

Then later that day i was racing my dad on the Skier X trail. The second time we went down, he caught and edge on the banked turn and crashed into the woods. He ended up breaking 5 ribs, puncturing a small hole in his lung and bruising his ego. I was laughing because he won the race, he got down ahead of me in the sled that the ski patroller was leading.

Last night, I saw this little girl, no poles, straightlining/bombing the long and wide run with her arms out and flailing... and she did that like 2 or 3 times. It was just really weird to see some kid bombing it and not fall. I guess you had to be there...

there was kid on the chair in front of me and he had a backpack on. when he tried to get off it stuck on the chair, and he got swung around like a rag-doll and i laughed at him haha. and i saw this try to shit off the lift and well didnt work out to well, got it all over the chair and him.. i laughed at him to lol

not a lift story, but a hiking story.

it was a warm, sunny day (for the middle of february of course, about -30 with wind chill) and i was hiking a rail with some buddies. then i noticed that my edges were metal. having had past experiences with tongues getting stuck to lamp poles, i wondered if it would get stuck to my edge. long story short, it did stick.

Aight here's mine. It was at the small mountain in PA about 5 years ago. I had a spyder jacket with one of those zip-out hoods with these elastic strings to tighten the hood on each side. So im on this old (not detachable) quad, and the string from my hood somehow loops itself into the hole in the back of the chair on the way up. So when i go to get off, i feel this tugging at my neck and i'm like what the fuck. So i start going down the ramp to get off and the elastic string must have been stretched like 10 feet from the chair as i am trying to ski away. It starts to drag me backwards untill it snaps off the chair and fucking DRILLS my helmet. If i wasn't wearing it I would of gotten owned.

And another one from the same day at that mountain. I had just gotten off that same quad, and this group of people get off right behind me. There was a mother, her daughter and two other random chicks. The little daughter falls and ends up just sitting right at the top of where you would get off the lift. So the next chair flies around with nobody on it and fucking busts her in the head. Then the next one. And the one after that. She must of gotten hit like 5 times as the mother starts going fucking nuts at the lift attendant because they obviously weren't paying attention. It was pretty hardcore.

i was on the lift with some boarders at winter park and they took the snow off their boards and started hurling it at people going down the hill. one time they hit this girl square in the face and she basically flew backwards when it hit her and she started bawling. it was crazy

once i saw someone i knew from school at the ski hill with his parents so i rode the lift with him and his dad.  it was spring so there was a huge pond of melt water under the lift at the beginning.  so we got on the lift and the snow along the edge of the pond was sticking up a bit.  my friends dad got his ski tip caught on the snow by the edge of the pond and faceplanted into the pond.  he had to ride up the chair alone and soaking wet.  he was so pissed when he got to the top that i made sure i got FAR away

today at big white, there was a sled at the top of the super pipe, one of the ones they use to bring injured people down the hill. well some gaper tried to stop but caught an egde and biffed it right into the sled. it got knocked over and proceeded to haul mock 120 down the middle of the superpipe almost destroying about 4 people. if it hit anyone theres no doubt in my mind they would be seriously injured. well at the bottom of the pipe theres about a 10 foot drop and this sled bombed off the drop and plowed right through the boardercross net thats right below the supoerpipe. the sled then continued to haul ass probly abou another 150 meters, wrapped it an orange net, until it finally crashed into a patrol hut where it exploded and put a big ass dent in the hut. it made my day as i was watching from the park chair

i was getting on this quad lift and we had four people. this gaper in the singles line tried to join our chair but i said we had four people and he was like o. but he still didnt move out of our group so i told him again and he didnt reply. so i told him one more time and he backed off. so were going to get on the chair and we make it to the line, then out of no where he come up behind us gets clipped by the side of the chair and starts getting dragged out of the station thing. i stepped out of the way so he woulnt take me out with him. it was possibly the funniest thing i have ever seen. after telling him 3 times the chair was full he goes ahead and tries to get on it anyway.
