Lift Stories

Hey
People have post stuff about shit they saw on the lift in threads, but there is no thread for it all. So here it is. Post your lift stories, it can be anything at all. Heres mine.

I was going up the lift during night sking and it was dead silent because it was a pretty crappy night and no one was around. So I was sitting there by myself when all of a sudden I heard what soounded like a gun shot. I almost shat my pants. Turns out it was a tree that had been iced up by a snow gun and it couldn't take it anymore so it commited tree suicide and cracked off. Pretty cool.

Another time my friends and I were about to get on the lift and this guy flies by us and gets on the lift we were getting on. We didn't care and stopped and got the next one. So half way up the hill he lifts up the saftey bar thing and hurls himself off of the chair. He landed on his side and snapped a ski in the process. Then he picked it up and tried to ski off, but ski patrol caught time.

And there were a bunch of times when people have dropped shit off the lift of double ejected their skis some way, but thats really not a story.

the best lift moment ever was when a girl fell off the chairlift, sounds harsh but shes okay. My home mountain is crap and the chairlift is like 50,000,000 years old. so this girl gets on and shes 8 years old and about 10 feet off of the loading ramp the whole back of the chair snaps off and she goes flying backwards does a halfway backflip and lands on her neck. Ha! luckily it was sort of powdery so there was no serious damage but idrk wat happened after that. No sueing took place or anything...it was crazy! but that was the best lift story i got...it was on the news and everything.

One time at Mohawk in Connecticut, I'm on one of the crappy ass lifts there and I watch this little girl go straight into the woods off the trail at full speed. I was the only one that saw it, so I told the patrol at the top. Turns out she landed directly on top of this old pole that was sticking straight up hiding right under the snow. She was alright but what was the chance of her landing on that pole out of all the woods.

i was with a couple friends on the triple at shawnee peak and we were smokin a bowl on the lift. but it turns out one of the kids parents were on the lift behind us and they recognized him and my other friend but i got away fine.

and our school rents out shawnee for a day in the spring so its only our school and me and a friend were ridin up the lift and we only have one kicker in our park and we had a perfect view of it. And its usually pretty icy with a fucked up lip and its about 30ft and we saw this kid ride up to it and we knew he was good at skiing but the lip was so shitty it popped him straight back and he just smashes onto hardpack and ice right on his back. i was like...hes totally dead...he wasnt though, he got up when we got down to the park which was like 10 mins...

i was riding the 6 pack at Stratton with my friend. There was no one else on the lift. It was like a 10 degree day. We had the brilliant idea of sitting in the two seats closest to the poles. So the lift was completely tipped. We were eating brownies that we bought at the base lodge and my friend has like 3/4 of a brownie in his mouth. Since we were so close to the towers, without warning, he spits the entire 3/4 of the brownie onto the tower. It looked perfectly like a huge shit. It was so cold that it froze instantly and we got a good laugh all day- every time we went by.

I was at my hill in the afternoon with one of my friends and we were just getting on the lift after a family of like 3 got on the lift in front of us. There were 2 uber young kids and a dad (asain i think).. and as the lift started going one of the kids sat on the other one so they tried to get off of each other. This is where shit started to get bad. The the kid who was on the other one began to slip to the side that his dad wasnt on. So we are slowly going up the lift and we just see this kid slipping little by little and his dad couldnt get him up because his other kid was inbetween him. At first we could see his butt just below the bottom of the chair...then as we got farther up the mountain, we could see his head and arm as he was just trying to hold on to his dad. The dad chucked off his skis to try and get him up..but when he was doing this we just saw the kid fall like 30-40ft to the ground. Our chair goes over him and blood is just pooring out of his mouth. When we get to the top, his stupid dad just stands there talking to the rest of his family about the kid. So we haul ass over to the ski patrol and tell them whats goin down.

Later that week my mom (works at Strong Hospital where the kid was taken) tells me that she talked to someone at the hospital and apparently he got paralyzed and had his bone sticking out of his leg. They told her that theres a good chance that he is only temporarily paralyzed. So i hope that like 8 yr old kid is alright and doesnt spend the rest of his life in a wheel chair.

I was on this quad with two of my friends and this random kid. He keeps waiving at me (or so i thought) right in front of my face the whole way up. So we go over the last peak and we can see the end and he says "I heard Uranus is going to be pretty big tonight!" (like a total retard) and im like "O cool......" and hes like "I did! I did!"  and im like "yeah i said thats pretty cool dude" and he starts screaming at the top of his lungs " I DID!!!!! I DID!!!! I DID!!!!!!!!"

It was sooo messed up. Either i got totally owned or that kid was MESSED UP

not sure this was mentioned but a few thanksgivings ago at winter park near zephyr express the shitty 3 seater to the right a this dudes like 4 year old daugher was like danlging for like 20 minutes and then ski partol got this bounce pad and shit and then the dad dropped her and she like missed the pad and shit seem kinda scary not sure what happened to the girl but everyone was watching and the news was tehre and shit it was bad

So when i was younger about 5 i went to this Bday party. So the party was a ski lesson. Now i had been skiing since i was 2 multiple times a week all winter but it was a big group of us so we all did a lesson. So everything is going good were all having a good time but at some point i got alittle past the stop here line on the chair lift. Oh yea cause it was a lesson we all were wearing those bib deals. So i can guess you can bet what happens the chair hooks the back of my vest and picks me up. There was some guy next to me who grabbed my shoulder so i wouldnt fall. then the instructor jumped off the lift before us and grabbed my feet. i got a good 30 feet before the lift stopped but it was a beginner lift so i was only like 12 feet off the ground. It was pretty cool.

Oh and sierra has since replaced the lift with the most useless high speed quad that travels 500ft.

well in whistler this summer on the glacier the snow got pretty low and the t bar would bottom out if you got one with a short string and if you sit on it youd hover over the ground such fun shit.(not the hostman tbar the other one). and when you got to the top instead of getting off you stay on and sit on it and youd fly up(like 6 feet) (cuz the wheel it went around was uphill) before it went around the wheel and right before it went around youd jump off. ..it was soo much fun you could spin and shit in the air ..haha good times then lifties got mad .

last year at Mount Southington in CT, me and my friend were on the triple chair which is right next to the double chair and when we get to the top, there are a bunch of people standing around the top of the double. then i looked out right before the unloading station of the double and this older man was dangling by his arm. it was like stuck in between to bars on the chair. apparently he got his arm stuck getting off the lift, went around teh wheel thing, around the stop gate, and off the edge. he was a good 20 ft off the ground. his daughter, who was probly like 10, was up at the top crying. i felt so bad but they got him down and i think he had a broken arm of something. lifty got fired for not paying attention

Under one of the quad lifts at my hill theres a place where two kind of steep trails trails merge.I have seen multiple gapers slam together at 30 miles per hour out of control. Soooooooooo funny.

I saw two japanies girls. Must've been like 9 or 10. They were bombing the hill and a patch of moguls were comin up. they didnt see them, flew off the first row, popped out, did a double front flip and landed on her back on the top of a mogul. Thought she like cracked somthin. it sounded terrible.

I got on the lift with 3 strangers who were together, and this one girl was like "I can't wait to eat my awesome lunch my mom packed... it's gonna be awesome... yeah, that's a lie." and then she goes on this huge rant about the bizarre diet her mom is on and starts talking about placentas... which were apparently involved in her mom's diet?
and that took pretty much the entire lift ride...
I was like, wow.. thanks for sharing.

So i was on the lift with a probably ten year old snowboarder all decked out with nice clothes and shit. So this little girl is boarding under the lift and she falls and the boy on the lift says" hey! ill be your ski instructor!" then she says "what??" and he says it again. Then he goes "i know you, im _____!" (i forget his name). The girl says "ok" and waits because we are almost to the top of the lift and this like ten year old boy goes " She's sooooo hot."   i laughed.

there is this super sketchy double lift at white pass and when it stops and ur in a certain spot you bounce like 40 ft up and down and its a good 80ft off the ground, so sketchy.


and i was at breck like 4 years ago when i was shitty at skiing and i decided to go real fast, and i hit a tree the first run of my week long trip there and broke my femur and it popped through my leg, that fucking hurt.

back in like 8th grade i was on the park lift at Pats Peak, a little place in nh, some little boarder kid tried to slide a rail. he catshes is toe side on the begining of the rail and whip lashes his head to the rail.

iv seen a couple kids fall off the lift iys uinny

I was skiing at blue mountain in Onterrible and I was ging up the lift with 2 friends and we were just near the bottom and all of a sudden we see the most gaper kid on the planet come flying down the hill over this little ridge.  he was so gaper, pretty much undesribeable, hugest yeti gap, jeans, gay coat and like xc skis.  Anyways, he was bombing the shit out of the hill, while doing a snowplow ( a shitty snowplow that wasnt slowing him down at all) and he was barely staying on his feet.  and my friends was like "oh shit, he's gunna hit that guy"  and the kid prceeded to just miss an older guy, may be 50 years old, and ski over top of his skis.  then were thinking, "this kids is going to go over the road at the bottom and either get smashed by a car or nail the condo's on the other side."  Luckily, there was a little row of smal  pine trees.  This kid way going so fast, and he decided to try and grab onto one of the pine trees to stop himself from launching into the side on a large SUV that was driving by at the time.  The little pine tree just lurches back and forth as this kid grabs it.  So when we get to the top we ski down to see what hapened and it turns out the kid broke some ribs, and the pine trees had no branches left on the front side.

i remember like one of the first times i went skiing and was getting on some super sketchy european chairlift with my family and the thing swung round so fast and took out all of us. like skis flying everywhere
its always usually funny watching it happen to people but not so good experiencing

one time me and a few buddies were about to get on the lift and there was this single snowboarder with us and we were just heading to the "wait here" spot and some skier comes up and pins the guy against the pole that serparates the spots for the chair and starts yellin at him, smacked him in the face a few times before like 3 ski patrolers broke it up.

me and my friends were just dicking around in the sundown mini park (which isnt really a mini park btw) and this one kid about 9 years old cuts off my friend in front of a box, stops, waits for my friend to catch up, and then cuts him off again to the jump.  he hits the jump and slams into a kid who fell in the landing before him. then he sat there motionless for a good 5 minutes while everyone is hitting the jump and swerving around him at the last second, and it gets to the point where the liftee stops the lift and runs over to see if hes ok. 4 of his friends ran back up the hill to block off the jump and as soon as everyone was at the top of the jump and the liftee got there, the kid gets up and skis off and starts cutting people in the lift line.  some kids are just oblivious

this winter I was at PC for night skiing, and there where scattered T-storms around.  right after I got on the lift about the 3 or 4 tower everything shut down.  I mean everything the lift stopped the lights on the slope went off, the lights at the base went out.  well that had me a bit concerned but the power came back on in a minute or so, but then right before I got to the top it did it again.  Needless to say I bombed back to the base and made that the last run.  I never realized how dark the Mt was until someone turned out the lights.

i was at some mountain in new york. i got on a quad with 3 other friends and one of my friends starts yelling "suck my dick, suck my dick bitch". so i look over and my friend is shoving my other friends head in his crouch. so then he falls off  because this was like the first 10 seconds of the ride and we didnt put the bar down. he didnt get hurt because we were under 10 feet and he landed in fresh pow but he was still laying there yelling im gonna beat ur ass ( he never did ). it was by far the funniest thing ive ever seen

Lol thses are hilariousss

I have some as well, prob ones that have already been written

Im at hockley, ontario and theres this jump park with a few big jumps one after another, about 3 of them.  Me and my friend are in line for the lift and this 12 year old boarder is kind of at the end of the flat where you would ride out the jump, no big deal , good number of people walking there.  He stops to check his phone and i gues this 13 year old boarder comes out of no where out of control off the last jump and plows the kid with the phone.  They both get up and start cussing it and and start hitting each other with their boards and throwing snow lol.  Patrol broke it up but i laughed pretty hard and everyone was stariing. the phone was in pieces, it was a nice blackberry lol

im at blue mountain and we're on the silver bullet lift which is the most popular and fastest lift there.  And i see the first fall ive seen there ( i dont go very often to blue, its 2 hours up) when i lady is getting on the lift.  The lifty stops the lift and says "everyone give a big hand to the first fall of the day and stopping lift, big hand everyone"  needless to say she was pretty embarssed

Im at glen and right ahead of us is a group of four skiers, one is a 17 year old with two of his friends his age and i guess he's with his lil brother who is around 14 years old.  The lil brother i guess is bothering them about random stuff and the older one keeps telling him to shut up but it doesnt work.  Finally once im on the lift, their on the one ahead of me.  The older brother flips out and unclips his lil brothers skis and it falls into a ravine lol...it was funny but a huge dick move

These stories are hilarious.

Anyway, the ski school that I work at has this instructor in training program and when I did it there was this one kid who was completely out of it all the time. So we're at blue mt. and we're getting on a 6 chair (forget which one) and there were 6 people in the line. He somehow managed to get through the little gate things and make 7 people at the line. So he goes to sit but ends up on the end and the side bar thing goes right up his ass, scoops him up and dumps him right on his face. We're all laughing our asses off and the lifty is yelling at him asking if he passed kindergarten and if he can't count to 7.

friends and i got on a six pack at stratton with two compleate strangers. we say nothing halfway up while theyre talking. The suddenly we all start singing the national anthem in harmony. It was hysterical. the look on theyre faces. when we finished we said nothing for the rest of the way up.

singles line yourself into sketchy looking group of tourists.
make sure you are wearing ridiculously large headphones.
pretend they are on.
pretend you dont hear them talking.
listen to their outrageous stories of group sex, blacked out nights in casinos, and how their kid doesnt know they are adopted.

and these are samplings of amazing stories i have heard.

my fave lift story though?
some jackass dad just about knocked his little girl over while trying to get her to be quiet in the lift line.
then he dropped his pole while getting on the lift.
he realized he dropped it, but for whatever reason was too concerned with being an asshole to his daughter who apparently was having a hard time learning to ski.
i was recruited to carry the pole on the lift.
instead of giving the asshole his shitty ass rental pole, i dropped that shit in a gnarly patch of rocks and told the dude i didnt even see him drop his pole, but that he should wait at the lift until it gets to the top.
