Ok i was thinking about getting the karmas or the anthems or even considering the ar6, but i herd that the Karmas have very weird, or different swing weight than the other two skis when spinning..Is this true? please help, i need advice, planning on buying one of thoes very soon
compare spinning abnormally light skis with skis that have 2 lbs weights on the tips/tails and youve got 2 different swing weight, just very exagerated. the plus of more swing weight is that it carries you thru the spin, like with peps 90-270 without any swing weight it wouldnt have been possible. with less swing weight though its easier and more fun (imo), like on groomers you can throw little 3s on the side and stuff,
go to the shop and "swing" all the skis u named above the one that swings easiest has the lowest swing rate which is supposed to make it easier to spin but i never really beleived it
Swing weight is the mass moment of inertia around the mounting point of your ski. A center mounted ski has a lower moment of inertia than one mounted back a little. A light ski with the same length and weight distribution as a heavier ski will have a lower swing weight. Some of you might know the equation for force is mass times acceleration. The equation for torque (the force you have to apply to spin) is the moment of inertia (J) times rotational acceleration (omega). So a lower swing weight or moment of inertia means it takes less torque to start or stop your spin. And that's about as much as i think you guys can understand. I'll shut up now.
almost made sense, "A light ski with the same length and weight distribution as a heavier ski will have a lower swing weigt" if it is light, how does it have the same weight as a heavier ski? i kinda know what ur tryin to say though
not the same weight, the same Weight DISTRIBUTION. Simpler terms - the same density, even simpler terms - the same ski in different lengths. hope that helps
