I was thinking about center mounting my Ar6's, If I center mount them, do i loose some all mountain capability? do i loose anything at all? im 6 1, im either getting the 176's or 181's
get 181s and i centred my ar5s and they fucking suck in pow so im guessing the ar6 would be a little better cause they have a little more underfoot but my advise is do not centre them if you plan on doing pow.
I was just hanging out with a friend who is a 10+ year ski tech and he was telling me about all the kids who come into the shop and demand a center mount... apparently all the pros he has met (tanner was mentioned, can't remember who else) mount their bindings in the traditional spot, not 1,2,or 3 cm forward or center mounted (regardless of what they say in freeskier). he tells this to people and sometimes they care, but most often they just want them center mounted anyway.
Mine are 2.5 cm forward, but I'm a girl on men's skis so that should make them easier for me to ride.
I'm not sure why people follow trends instead of getting performance out of their gear.
Going by that logic, if you are a good skier you should be able to float in powder on mogul skis. Center mounting dramatically decreases the skis performance outside of the park....to the point where they are basically useless unless you can deal with a poorly performing ski.
yea hes right, i competed in bumps last year, and skied almost every pow day in mogul skis. it can be done, and it probably made me a better skier, but its definitely a big disadvantage
Uhg, its not that bad. I ride Fujis 1 inch foward and I live in ALASKA. Its not that bad, you just have to know how to ski. for pow I use dead center, but for packed soft snow/groomers, foward is where its at.
if u r gunna be very detailed when i got mine mounted i asked 4 them cenered and ther not they are on the thickest part i didnt want this i wanted them centerd from tip tp tail centerd they said : o opps well will u ride them still they are only 1.5 back im ok w.e
i really depends on the ski-if the ski is made to be centered, it will ski easier cnetered than one designed not to. chekc threads specific to your ski.
for ym scratches i found them waaaaaaaay easier to set and edge and carve forward non-centered, but carving is lame anyways.
as for pow, the tip-bindign length is smaller, but who fucking cares, if you have your weight centered when you ski pow, whihc you should, you'll be fine
