hey how much snow is on/ around at gaurdsmans pass right now??? Today is november 1st and I was definately wondering how much snow was up there, because I wanna go do a jumper!!! if anyone knows I would like to know also, thank you for your time. - Willem aka Willem
it really isnt very smart to be jumping when there is only 3 feet of snow on the ground...even 5 feet of snow. Well, that is, if you are in Utah. In case you havent noticed, Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons.....and most of the canyons in Utah, have alot of boulders everywhere. Although we may have 3 or 5 fee of snow, it is all built on a base of solid rock. One should wait until a good compacted base builds up on top of the rock, and then a whole other layer of powder on top of that. I have seen way too many people go build jumps with this little amount of snow cover, and almost every time that they go up to do it, somebody breaks their femur from landing on rock. I am all down for preseason rails, but the bc kickers with 3 or even 6 feet of fresh on top of rock is just stupid.
exactly. just ask jason stinsman, who was skiing under bad news cliffs at alta the other day and bailed and hit a rock and broke his femur. it is such a bummer he is a good kid and has had enough shit happen. he doesn't deserve that shit. and rob greener broke the shit out of his tib fib and femur in low snow early season conditions just trying to get a pow shot. he hit rocks, got wedged and rolled over his leg and it just shattered. NO GOOD.
Boo skiing in 3 feet of fresh on top of 5 feet of boulder.
just wait till there is a base. don't ruin your season.
