In the week before the election, there is a HEADLINE--not some side-story in the Sports section-- about skateboarding in the New York Times. And they actually treat skateboarders like legitimate athletes. I'm usually nostalgic for the period when our sport wasn't even a sport--when people were bending the tails up on normal skis and sneaking into terrain parks. It seems like the early years of jibbing can't be topped. But if skiing reached this point I would change my mind.
