"If an object is put in motion it remains in motion" or whatever Newton says. THAT DOES NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE MUSCLE CONTROL OF A HUMAN BODY. THINK ABOUT IT.... IF YOU DROP A CAT UP-SIDE-DOWN it will WITH MUSCLE CONTROL TURN ITSELF AROUND IN THE AIR AND LAND ON ITS FEET. SAME THING MUSCLE CONTROL. THEREFORE BECAUSE ANIMALS HAVE MUSCLE AND CAN CONTROL THEM..... we can overcome some of these laws of physics. Therefore both tricks are impossible. THE END
id read that again if i were you. if we can over come these laws of physics, which is possible. then the tricks would be possible. not impossible.... and yea, you do need a hobby
regardless of if possible or not.. no matter how you do it..a "cork 1" will look retarded...and a 90 to opp270 would always look like a mistake.. drop the subject and just ski..
Or it would looks just like That amazing corked 180 that Laurent did in SkiMatic.
STOP BITCHING you DICKS. Ok, i'm gonna sit on the internet and argue about a trick. It's possible, because I've seen it done. If you don't believe it, then don't. Call is watever you like. I'm not sure what you would call it if it's not a corked 180, but whatever. fuck off everyone
pretzels are completely different, you're on a rail so you can exert forces on the rail and it will exert forces back on you, giving you control of what direction you are spinning. It doesn't sound like any of you have gotten past 8th grade physics.
Does anyone remember when people would put snowboards on and jump out of airplanes and it was an event in the Xgames?? It was very common to see them spin one direction for a while, then stop and start spinning the other direction. Also, it was common to see people do backflips to frontflips... They are not defying the laws of physics. The laws of physics only apply to environments where there is no resistance... Air resistance and wind resistance play a huge factor, and since both forms are existant on earth, skiers will be able to start doing "pretzels" in the air when they start going big enough. This is not defying the laws of physics its just skiers using resistance to their advantage. If skiers were skiing in space where there is no resistance then you can say these tricks are impossible. But until then these tricks are very possible, and you will start seeing more and more of these tricks in the future...
^they'd have to be going realllllly fast on a super flat and fast jump to do that dude people jumping out of a plane are goin like 120 mph so you can't really compare the two. If anyone hits a jump at 120 mph and does any rotation I'd have to give 'em some props
yes it does. he said that it is possible only becasue of muscle control. pep was set in motino...then twisted his body around the opposite way. using his muslces. he didnt just stop and spin the other way.
There are three types of spins;
1) Contact Spinning: This is when you use an object to create momentum to do a flip or a spin.
ex. a jump or rail
2) Tilt Spinning: this is how airealist spin. They use the momentum from thier flips to create spin by dropping an arm or two. ex. back lay to back full.
3) Cat Spinning: This is what cats do as the name inplies. Cats use flailing and mucsle control to create or stop spin in the air. Therefore cats can spin both ways in the same air, or create spin, to always land on their feet.
Cats are good at Cat Spins, Humans aren't. But we can do it. Spinning both ways in the air is possible but its hard and you need a lot of time.
alright mr. einstien if you have ever done a pretzel you would know better than this. sure you do exert foces on the rail with your skis, this is actually called gripping a rail. Tho thishelps the skier reverse their rotation it is certainly not the only force that helps the skier spin in the opposite direction. it is mainly the core muscles in the body that help the skier reverse their rotation. watch the beyond the bunnyhill teaser. in it there is a skier doing a double switch up to pretz 2 out. this rail can harldy be gripped, A. because its a rainbow and the skier has harldy any weight on it (due to the arch of the rail which mimmics the trajectoy of a skier on a jump. get it?) and B. because the rail is a rectangular shape which makes it harder to grip. the core muscles in the body are doing the same thing here as in pep's sw. cork 90 to 270 revert or whatever its called. i certainly hope you read all this so you know you are wrong and go cry in a corner. and by the way i dont think anyone takes physics in 8th grade.
air resistance plays a minor factor in reverting your spins when your in the air for less then a few seconds. it's all about using your muscle like cats do.
wow are you kidding.. as someone who lately has been pretty successfull with pretzel's.. it is all about gripping the rail... Did you notice how on that dub su 270 out of that rainbow the kids skis were completely scissored on the rail? watch any pretzel... even on box's its almost all about yur edge controll... im sorry to say but you are wrong and he is right
sure dood. say what you will. i am not gonna say you are wrong, but there is no way the force of your skis on the rail alone can change the momentum of a 170 pound skier spinning on a 1 inch wide piece of metal.
core muscles control the balance of your body. when you spin on they help you balance and absorb your rotation. if you can pretzel you will feel this as your spin begins to slow. your core will tighten up and your rotation will slow. we really should not be arguing about this because we are both right. gripping a rail and your core muscles firing help you pretzel.
core muscles also help you in the air and with rail balance. this is why dry land training for moguls includes lots of core muscle work out.
and by the way that rail is not a double barrel and i would like to see you pretzel, send me a video once you get it, good luck.
someone does it in ski movie 2 i think... its not stright up backflip to frontflip its like a sw back 180 then to a frontflip. still kinda sweet though. not defining the laws of physics either but, its cool.
um yea dude that is how actually, you have to have some outside force act on you to change your momentum. and double barrels are pretty much the easiest things to grip so that makes no sense. why do you think people scissor their skis on pretzels? or look at the people who are sick at pretzels on boxes, they put a shitload of weight on the edges of the skis pushing on an edge of the box so they can grip it. and maybe your town isn't very well educated but we did cover some basic elements of physics middle school. like uhh I dunno you never learned about gravity till high school? that'd be referred to as physics.
