first off, i searched. but i coudlnt find the thread with a link to that new board video with the "biggest, safest jump ever" in it....guy does a double corked 1260....any way does anyone kno the name of that film?
Whats really sad? The fact that Anon, Salomon, and Rossignol all gave money to that and all three companies have ridiculously talented skiiers on their payrolls and they let the skiiers slide. What the fuck. Honestly, I don't think it's the riders themselves or the sports keeping snowboarders and skiiers apart. It's the companies, and things like this just make that assertion true.
Leviathan is a big gap -- about 145ft. -- in Utah, a little further up the valley from Chad's and Pyramid (I think). Search the forum and you'll find some threads with both pictures and video.
That video sucked, you couldnt even tell how big they were going. And skiers might have done better. Note: Snowboarding is about 5 years ahead of us in progression...
skeirs would have done aswell or better on that jump. Mainly cause skiers usually have more confidence then snowboarders and landing from that much air time prolly would have been easier on skis
Are you fucking retarded? Look at their movies, their tricks (double cork 12s), the setups they make, their AMAZING style and ease (aka steeze) they have, skiing will be equal to what they are now in about 4-5 years.
i take it your a snowboarder. I defenitly think that it is easier to hit high speeds on skis. Two planks for balance and you can ride a flat ski SO much easier then a flat snowboard. And as far as landings go look at all the wash out in that video. Once again the two planks skiers have for ocunter balance makes those landing so much easier.
Oh and i was calling you a retard about the speed thing and the snowboarder part. Your logic with skiers having more stablitly is right, but guess what? I saw two double corks stomped perfect in that video, i think they were fine.
ya know its sooo sick what they are doing but the day skiers and snowboarders are riding together will be a really good day. Were all just sliding down on snow, slightely different ways but I am sure the snowboarders were thinking the same as we are with JOI, it needs to change, were all out here having a fun time and we might as well do it together.
heath, you really think snowboarders have more style in the air? I think skiers are way ahead of snowboarders in terms of looking cool in the air. Snowboarders may have us on rails, but skiers can be simply beautiful in the air.
Well, being skiers, we like seeing skiers. But think about it, snowboarders are sooo smooth, so stylie, its amazing. Sure, there are skiers that are too, but with progression on jumps and rail, they are way ahead of us, there is no way u can say skiers are ahead of snowboarders, because its not possible. Snowboarding started before skier, hence the natural progression of snowboarding is farther than us. Now how far is another whole piece of shit, but you get the gist.
Examples of snowboarders being ahead of skiers:
Urban 270 on, snowboarders have been doing it for years, it just got popular like two years ago for skiers.
Double corks, snowboarders did it like 4 years ago, they are just becoming popular in skiing this year.
If you say skiing is ahead of snowboarding, then you are an ignorant retard.
Pretty self explainitory. But since you can't figure out is very simple name, its two corks in one trick, like a double back flip. For example, double cork 10 would be a cork 5 + cork 5.
Snowboarding is extremely easier to make your shit look steezy. It's pretty damn simple.
Their feet are locked in a position which means they will never have leg flail in the air.
Skiing takes easily twice, probably three times the effort to make stuff look good. You can say snowboarders were "stylier" before skiers. Well, it's because they are strapped into a locked position already.
That's also why I like skiing better. It takes that much more effort to make it look good. I like that. More creativity and individual style.
man i don't care about the double corks and shit. those tricks are rediculous but im talking about the majority of the landings i saw were washed out. im not saying that if a skier hit it they would do switch double corks and one up the boarders im just saying that there landings would be cleaner thus more confidence to throw riskier tricks
Ha, are you fucking kidding? Skiers were probably the first to "jump" ill give you that. Skier were also the first to flip/spin (moguls, snowboarders might have first tho) and obviously skiers did double flipping first, aerials. But spinning off axis might have been skiers or boarders, i guess if you count d-spins then its skiers. But double corks, grabs, and pretty much style in general snowboarders did first. Shall i mention who hit rails first? Who did half pipe first?Or hit/built terrain features, or urbans, or back country jumps(iffy im not sure about that one). Skiing evolved from snowboarders doing tricks (modern skiing like terrain parks, halfpipe, ect) and if you think skiing just popped outa no where and snowboarding had nothing to do with it, then you are very mistaken.
