Looking at a new camera

i dont have a whole lot of money, but i was looking into the Sony HDR HC3 camera. it says its an HD camera, but still mini dv

i was also looking at the Panasonic GS500, which is mini dv, but 3ccd.

For the price, both of these sound veyr appealing to me, but im wondering if anyone here has used either of this cameras and would be able to give me some info on them.

but also, for the sony, would i need to buy hd mini dv tapes? which are hella expensive?

that sony is actually HDV not HD, it's compressed HD and isnt gunna have the same quality you'd expect, and yet it still requires a really good computer to edit it. I'd say go with the GS500 though cause there was a free movie on here once shot almost entirely in it, a couple with a gl2, and i actually thought the gs500 looked better than the gl2. I'm just not sure HD is the way to go quite yet until they get another medium to record to.

plus ive found some really good and helpful reviews taht are for the panasonic, plus it comes with those sweet packages for under 550 bucks, which is a sick deal.

anyone wanna buy a canon zr200 with a wide angle and telephoto lense, plus broken tripod and a padded case?

your getting a GS 500 for under 550??? omg, sick ass price, plus i heard its a dammn ssick camera. i'm getting a 180 or 300.
