I am pretty sure you wont see another boot on the mountain this year other than people sponsored by rossi or technica because they have to where those boots. Otherwise salomon absolutely dominates the boot technology this year and i believe there is no reason to slip your foot into anything else. Comphier than mo fuggin slippers.

what about the fact that they are so soft you wont be able to make a turn in snow deeper than the boot, i think your wrong, the kryptons are money and same with lange, dude it all depends on what boot fits the persons foot

very well said. salomons fit me the best, but i know people who can't get their foot in the boot to save their lives. go with whatever feels the best for you.

This is true, the SPKs are off the hook, but only for people with wider feet. if you have a narrow foot, go Dalbello, get the Rampage. the SPKs have a roomier toe box, so they fit me much better, but if i had narrow feet i would totally get the rampages.

Have you tried the SPK's on? They actually aren't as soft as a lot of people think they are. The fact that they are higher up on the shin and a little bit more vertical compensates the 8.5 flex to make it feel like a stiffer flex.

This kid has had serious issues with boot bang (had modified customized 1080's last year) - he now has 2 solid days in the SPK jumping on these boxes landing flat and every other which way. So far so good, he is absolutely loving them!

SPK is an 85 flex which equals the 1080 Foil.
Unless you are like 200+ and know how to ski they are not too soft to turn skis.

np...... but seriously... I'm giving credit where credit is due. Call it a testimonial or a lame commercial, I don't care. (I'll use the NS rating when they have been fully tested)

I have spent a lot of time and money on boots for that kid. Nothing pains me more than to see him with swollen shins from a little back seat landing or just from a day of sessions, practicly in tears. The SPK looks to be a solution to a huge problem.

footnote: (haha, no pun intended) I thought I found the answer early last season in that, the kryptons were perfect for me. Alas, not for him, they didn't fit his foot. I just got a new set of Rampages, so nice.....


How was that for a lame post? :o)

Yeah, but since the salomon warehouse is out of spks pretty much (thats what my shop said) then they wont be dominating the slopes. Another big boot will be the diablos and heads.

havent skiid in it yet, lack of snow. but for anyone that hasnt slipped into them, go put your foot in a girls ugg boot or whatever those furry ugly ass things are called. that is what they feel like. SO COMFY!

and to all the people saying the boot is too soft to turn outside the park, you are the ones believing the negative hype about the boot. probably because you cant afford it.

for me, soft boots are way better than stiff boots for anything, last year i skied all mountian (including altabird pow) on boots that had a stiffness of 70, they killed it, the spk's arent soft or stiff, id say they are pretty average, the two buckles dont make any difference in fit and barely any in weight i do not see why they are 500 bills

my opinion is that there isn't any "positive hype." for those of you pumped about this boot why?

all the "cool new park-oriented features" can be found in any other boot, aside from the little "high density foam" under the heel, which sounds fucking retarded.

yeah i had some "nice" rossis last year and they sucked...i couldnt get my feet into them, even tho they were the right size, like the weren't too small or anything, i would probably buy some spks if i wasnt getting some other boots for free this year, i tried the spks on at the store and they were comfy as hell

i completely dont understand why you would bash a BOOT. its a fucking BOOT. if it fits, buy it. if you dont like it, dont buy it. you are bashing it, but you've never worn it, probably never tried it on, never skied with it, and your only experience is what the salomon website says?

some of us have tried the boot on and upon doing so, you can tell how the boot is going to perform after you have it on your foot for a while and flex around in it. i'm not negatively hyping anything, i'm just saying that for the money, there's better performance options out there, that with $10 worth of foam from the craft store, will do exactly what the SPK provides. and we believe the negative hype because we cant afford it? i'm skiing in a boot right now that retails for almost double the price of the SPK, and i could almost garantee everyone else on here who is saying there are better options is in the same boat as i am. the SPK might be a great boot for someone with a fat foot but low instep who does nothing but lap the park all day, but for me, that boot isnt going to cut it.

the nordica ignition boots that rory bushfield uses are sick. They have patented the shin wrap with elastic so no other boot company can pt elastic in theyre straps... it is nearly impossible to get shin splints with the nordica ignitions...

a 0 degree stance, dr scholls pad, rental type flex pattern, and fur liner does not make this boot anything revolutionary. you can cut out plastic on any boot to soften the rearward flex, but a gel pad in the heel, buy a shitty entry level boot, and deal with not having a fur liner.

Bottom line is that Salomon did was take lagging Ellipse boot sales (a recreational level boot), mold it in white plastic, throw some small changes in the "features" and call the "the newest revolution in park boots.

To anyone who is so amped on this boot, go ahead and get it, but know that if you claim its not too soft, then you arent a powerful skier.

I thought you might know what you are talking about but this ellipse is not the same shell as the SPK, besides you forgot the the part about the cinch liner similar to a snowboarders boot.
