I'm in the process of building a metal round straight rail at school, today i noticed that the top had a dent in it, it's about an 1/8" (3-4mm) deep and about the size of the tip of my thumb, do you think i will catch an edge on it? if so i'm thinking of filling up to hole with beads of welds and then grinding it down so it's flush with the rail

You could fill it in and while you're at school I don't see why you wouldn't but I don't think you'll catch on it.
