last summer i used astroturf, and sprayed it down with all inds of solvents. i added dishsoap,laundry detergent, i dotn even know what else. it worked, but not to well. my towns ice rink is cloased in winter, so that isnt an option
does anyone know a better way of doing this?

you can buy stuff that is like fake ice, you make skating rinks n shit out of it, its kinda like a hard plastic
your skis should slide on it
you should b able to buy in at canadian tire or sumthin like that

A friend of mine cleared his lawn of rocks (the lawn slopes downward) and poured soapy water on it, then busted out his old skis and was hitting his rail like that, it's the way to go...
