I am buying Scratch BC, and i am getting look/rossi bindings, but how high of a din should i go with. I am 160lbs and at times i charge hard and (once i get to college) will start dropping cliffs and shit. So what the highest din I should go with?
well we cant decide your din based on only your height and weight. im 6' 180 so u might think i need something like a 10 or 12 din? but my boot sole length is pretty big 325mm which makes my din at 9. so u see sole length is very important
thats the size. which is also my size. depending on the boot you have, your boot sole length(the distance from the tip of the boot on the outside to the back of it on the outside)should be around 325mm
ya it depends on how hard you ski. I mean, fucking morrison and those guys blow out of their skis sometimes and I KNow that they have a din of 18. Also If it ends up that you should have your din say 12. Its better to get something that isnt going to be maxed out
keep in mind that no matter how high you like your din, its always good to get bindings that will exceed your din set by several points. that way the bindings springs wont be at their max and they will last longer.
Get some Axial 120s or PX12s. Your recommended DIN as a type 3 skier would probably be 7, but you may want to bump it up one more depending on how you ride.
If you really are stupid enough to get P18s, then consider that the DIN range on those suckers are 8-18, and you should technically ride at a DIN of 10 to keep off the extreme ends of its range (for the same reason you shouldn't ride a binding at it's maximum DIN). I'm not sure your knees will like you very much after a bad fall and no release.
