BERN sizing vs. R.E.D

if i was a size xl bern wearing a hat underneath, would i be a size xl for the r.e.d. trace wearing a hat underneath? i want to know because now shop near me has the trace and i want it in a certain color.

i have a large bern baker and it fits perfect, but i tried on a red hifi and i needed a medium .....i red runs a whole size smaller
