they are around 10 lbs each with scratch bindings. Not kidding. And yeah, they are ok in moguls, maybe not too easy startn short rad turns, its just something to get used to tho. The best all mtn skis EVER!!!!!!!! Great in the pow, steeps, and curdoroy! I even raced with em, and AWESOME riding switch.

A fat ski is not going to perform as well in a mogul field as a mid-fat or a skinny ski will. Skis with narrower waists tend to be quicker edge to edge and thus in moguls and short, snappy turns.

It would depend on how heavy you are. For a heavy person (say 180+), it may be too small for deep pow although it would perform well in light pow.

Scatch bc best ski for anything. 188 no matter how tall you are. They are stiff enough to blast through anything; pow, crud, blast moguls, clear 80 ft back country gaps, throw HUGE 3s and 5s over tables and step downs. They spin great, good weight to throw. My sticks of choice, and of most of the mt baker pro patrol.

I think the 168 would work for everything, except for epic pow (e.g. 4+ feet).

I love them, I have the 176's. I use them every where, now I cant even use a skinny ski. It just deosnt feel right anymore. They are good in moguls too.

I rode the bc in Wisconsin for a while. I liked them a lot it's easy to land and easier to do rails most twins are getting to the point where they are almost as fat as the BC now anyway. Unfortanatley I ripped the heel out of the ski and basically destroyed it.

I personally still prefer a mid-fat (74-76 at the waist) ski in a longer length as opposed to a wider (80-85 at the waist) ski in a shorter length. While the equivalent surface area makes both skis float the same (for the most part), the longer ones provide more deflection of crud and bumps and also offer a bit more stability at higher speeds.

thats crazy talk. low 70 waist is not even a mid-fat nowadays- its just skinny. and i definitely love my lbfs for both busting through crud and floating on fresh way better than long boards. luckily i'm light so they aren't too soft for me. but i think i could go even longer.. so don't anybody get less than a 180ish unless you're super, super tiny.

hey if you live in wisconsin and you are getting the pe cus the scratch is too fat your an idiot.
I assume your reasoning is you dont get pow and you ski on a lot of firm snow.
If you ski on firm snow dont get the pe cus 80mm underfoot is not narrow and the pe is fucking softer than shit which sucks for hard snow.
A better ski would be something stiffer like a tm or volkl twin or even an armada but not a noodle like the pe thats pretty fat you would be able to ski the bc better than the pe.

The Volkl V and Armada Ar5 are 80mm at the waist also. I think the TM is the only twin that has a waist under 80mm.

I rode Scratch BC's all last season and loved them, the only thing I wish I did differently was get a 182 instead of a 176.
