so i got a new boot, and i need to make the size smaller... what is the tab in the back supposed to look like?
the din is fine, just the size...

the back din is how you change the size...if you want it bigger you unscrew the back din screw and it will get bigger
once the boot fits, pop the boot in and screw the screw in until it is flush with the plastic, and then release the boot and click back in a few times to make sure its good
if it doesnt work you need a remount

Unless you like improperly set bindings and exploding knees, take it to a shop. Most will do something like that for free if it's just a minor adjustment.

you only have a cm, maybe 2 to adjust the bindings, other than that and you need a remount.

That really sounds like a bad idea... unless salomons just suck?? cause at least on looks there is a seperate screw for forward/backwards and dins...

Salomon binding? Which model? and year? (year probably won't matter)
It probably has a tab with a several lines etched into it? If this is the case, with no boot in the binding, take a standard screw driver (about 1/4 in. wide i think), slide it under the tab as far as it will go ( you don't need to push hard) and then lift the handle up (sometimes you have to giv'r a little to get some movement, or twist the screwdriver handle). The binding will want to slide forward quickly sometimes. no big deal. Just play with different positions.
The final appearence should be ( depending on the which model) should be the housing of the binding (probably plastic) should be flush with anywhere within those etch marks on the tab.
The model makes a difference but the adjustments are for your "forward pressure."

ok, so i know what metal tab you are talking about, but i dont have any lines, just an indentation...and as adjusted now, its on the edge of the indentation towards the boot and the front of the ski

good. that will probably work. really you want the tab halfway between the two indents, but if one click back adjusts it too far, then just leave it where you have it now. with salomon you'd rather have more forward pressure than not enough.
