so lately i cant stop thinking about the future and what to do with myself. the thought of growing older scares the shit out of me and although im only 19 i feel old. does anyone else ever get overwhelmed with the presures of growing up? going to college finding a job fillin in the shoes for the parents?

"at the end of high school, I ask my dad, 'what do I do?' He says 'Go to college.' I do college. After that, I ask him again 'what do I do?' He goes 'Go get a job.' So I do that. I ask him again, 'what do I do now?' and he goes 'Find a girl and get married.'"
I dont know why I find myself quoting Tyler Durdon...

Life takes some work, its true. Getting a job an supporting yourself can be done by the majority of americans, so I dont think you'll have that hard a time with it. Look for internships and job opprotunities while your in college too. College and internships might not pay now, but if you do them, they'll pay off immensly in the long run. I dunno, I'm really not too worried. Theres always my backup plan of quitting my job and being a ski bum in a different mountian every year if shit doesnt work out.

19 is kind of an age where you develop a more distinct indentity and start to ask universal questions like... what the fuck do i want to do with my life? Will that make me happy? and if you're me you question religion and shit like that.
I am still kinda confused on what I want to major in, and what direction I want my life to go in.
All I can say, if you're going to college, pick a good major you will enjoy, get a sweet gpa. Haha, GPA is everything...
You really only get one shot at life, so untilize that, dont be stressed about it.

THE FUTURE IS NOW BOY! REPENT! REPENT! CLEANSE YOUR SOUL!!!
Uh, just kidding. Just don't look to far ahead in the future. I've been doing that and it has been working great. Take life as it comes and do not overload yourself with petty problems you can't do anything about.

I know I'm a Junior in HS and now that I look back on it it seemed so short. It really sucks that after college you work for the rest of the good part of your life.

I went to college in a ski town, graduated, got a professional job in the same ski town. I balance a career and alot of ski bummin'. I think thats the way to do it. Try to be successful and still do what you love. I'm 27 but i still feel like i'm 18.

first of all, stop smoking weed.
that will NOT motivatte you to mesh with capitalist society.
second of all, i am mad that you have my fucking icon.
third of all, not everyone will be happy with america's "formula for success"
maybe you will be happy being relatively poor, but being able to ski every day.
maybe if you achieve the american dream of 2.5 kids and the trophy wife and kids you will feel like you sold out.
who knows.

it used bother me cause it seemed like everyone knew what they were doing after HS.
I went to University cause it seemed like the right thing to do. After my first year I still dont know what im going to do, so I took the year off cause I dont want to take any more pointless classes.
But when I came back from my frist year, everyone kinda changed. Like everyone who said they knew what they were doing no longer did, and the ones who said they did were probably lying.
So my friend dont even worry about things workout. I imagine I'll go back to school next year, I can't ski forever (even though that would be awesome.)The future does scare the shit out of me, but hey right now it's the present.

what bothers me the most is like I see something like UFC on TV, or skateboarding and I say "hey I want to get into that" and then I think, wait i'm not that young anymore, I'm almost 20, these people have been doing it their entire lifes

yeah I hate that!
but a tthe same time sometimes you watch the olympics and a commentator will mention that the the athlete only started this sport at 18 or 19.
The problem is most sports programs are only directed for the young teens its kinds frustrating cause i wanna try new stuff too!
But think of it this way most sports dont peak till mid 20's and you can maintain until you're like 30.

and there are sooo many sports where you're not in your prime until you're in your 30s. it's still all good for those of us who are getting into our 20s.

I just don't want to be the guy who wakes up, takes his kids to school, goes to his 9 to 5, comes home chills for a couple hours then goes to bed to do the same thing again

i'm 17 and i'm about to start investing in mutual funds so when i'm 21, i can possibly buy a sick car then invest again. my brother is finance classes and hes doing the same thing. then after that, you invest until you retire, its a great idea
