i had an idea today for a backyeard rail. my dad has some old 190cm skis that he jhasnt used in years and i was thinking that i could use them as a rail. the bases are made out of ptex(same material used for boxes) so i think it would work. i would prolly just drill down through the ski and secure it to wood, but has anyone else tried this and if so does it work?. im going to grind the edges down a ton so i wont catch any edges, but im going toput the skis tail to tail and it is pretty long, like 13 feet or so.
i did that shit but you dont want to drill through the bases drill through the board into the ski instead, like mounting bindings.trust me this works much better. but make sure to compensate for the tips and tails being thinner than the center too. to fix this prob you need to put small locks of wood to fill the gaps.
and oh ya you gotta drill through the blocks to keep them there and atatched to the ski
