don't waste your money on a basewelder, just practice with flaming ptex candles and get them real close to the base so the flame is as small as possible and the repair work will be just fine.

P-TEX TENDS TO CRACK AND THEN FALL OUT MAKING IT A ENDLESS JOB. BASEWELD MATERIAL IS ALMOST RUBBERY , IT DOES NOT CRACK AND RARELY FALLS OUT.

usually I don't get in arguments on the internet cuz its like the special olympics even if you win your still retarted but sometimes its worth it.

a cheap base welder will do just the same as a skilled tech with Ptex and a lighter, I know this because I work in a shop and i've seen what base welders can do and frankly i'm not impressed the best work we do is by hand with a candle and some careful prep work before hand. So I suggest you either pony up $1,000-$3000 for a good basewelder or just practice and learn how to use a ptex candle. and if it keeps falling out just go ahead and bring it into a shop and they will fix it right up for you.

(let me guess the next thing your gonna want to buy is a wax roller huh?)

Base Welder? Like the stick feed type? I think I can get those. I'll check on a price for ya. Dunno if you're interested, but you might want to consider an iron and p-tex ribbons. Just hold the ribbon on top of the gouge and put the iron on top until it melts... pretty much the same as a stick feed base welder.

Also for those who posted previously, using drip candles isn't nearly as good as welding. There is a reason that Wintersteiger makes a machine specifically for base repairs, essentially a big iron that spans the width of the ski's base.

^ what he said... if you are talking about a feed type gun, I think they are like 120, you can do a cheaper alternative... which is similar to a soldering iron to melt the ribbon in which is like 40 I think on like reliable racing or something... I have not mastered this yet. I have had welds from shops fall out as well as my own, and my own p-tex. For the price of p-tex, and the amount of rails I hit... which cracks the shop welds and my p-tex, I just p-tex once every few weeks, not that big of a deal, base welder comes in handy, but p-tex is quick and easy, especially for a poor college student

Base welder is $170 for the extrusion type. Better off getting the one where you use an iron and a ribbon. Those retail at about $70 or so.

I have such a machine at work https://mechanicguides.com/best-cheap-welders-money/ Lincoln. Works almost every day, for a year now. Not a bad device as for me. Recently I had to put an iron door with a lattice of the armature, very much helped me with this device. Everything turned out fine.))

even the most skilled tech would never use the lighter technique in the first place, those just don't hold plain and simple. Way too much air space in between each drip. Not saying he should waste money on a basewelder but you're full of shit haha
