it says that he signed beacuse elan and dalbello are now one company. So lets ditch K2. I just find it really suprising because its glen plake and K2. They should just be together

thats so dumb. there is soooo much K2 gear with plake on it. Like every magazine ad. ever. i cannot believe that happend. i was like under the impression that plake by now owned some stock in K2.

Yah it's been on skipress for a few days now...He's been on the team since the 15th of October.

He's getting so much skrilla for this. I'll still back up a comment on TGR that Elan most likely had a warehouse of 200-210's left over they needed to get rid of.

Elan and Dalbello(Now Dalbello~Elan Sports) teamed up so the switch was coming.

The big reason he left K2 and went to Elan/Dalbello. Is that Elan/Dalbello listen to him. K2 just wants him for a face. Elan/Dalbello want him for his knowledge.. If you have ever meet him, he is very smart when it comes to ski constrution.

Although It will be weird to not see him on K2 anymore, I think Elan may be coming to a renessaince with his help. He knows his shit.

Yes it's engineering, dipshit, that's my point. Skis are made by numbers, calculations, and raw materials. And it is not that hard to build a ski, in fact most people could do it. The problem lies in the cost of materials and the cassettes to press the shapes. That's why skis are expensive.

If you think it's art, fine, but in reality it is a pretty stagnant, manufactured process. Just look at the dimensions of skis over the last 5 years (with the exception of new reverse camber/sidecut skis), they are all pretty similar. Look at the DIMENSIONS, the sidecut radius, not the width, and you'll find most freeride skis are between 17-22m range.

Glen knows his shit. If you guys ride ANY Diabello boot, he has had his hand in it. Ohh and dude....glen is a BC rider. Look at Elan's BC ski lineup. You may hate their MO2s, but look at the M111...or 999. I could keep going. Now that Glen is on their team, the skis are only going to get better. Its like when Mcconkey moved to the K2 team. We not have the pontoon....the ultimate BC machine.

Believe it or not, there is a lot of thought that goes into ski design and manufacturing, and there are still things that can be changed.

OK fucknuts, "believe it or not" it is pretty easy to design a ski that you would like (read my first statement on simularities).

All your "thought" going into ski design is based purely on marketing and sales (which is obvious I'd think), not on performance.

This is the exact reason certain independent companies should be supported...they are the only ones truly trying to "change" things...

Plake is possibly one of my favorite skiers of all time. he was the one of the reasons why i switched to K2 (along with people saying that its great). this sucks to the extreme.

i'm stoked on elan,(probably becaue I ride them) but you all should do a little research. They are the worlds largest independent ski manufacturer based out of slovenia, there whole freeride line is dope aside from some questionable graphics, and you can probably get them cheaper than all those "cool" skis. Maybe he made the move not just for the money, maybe he wanted to work with people that would actually do what he told them and didn't have to run it by thier stock holders?

Not everything that is made in the Elan factory has the name "Elan" stamped on it. Just cuz they make a lot of skis doesn't mean they're better. You can get their skis cheaper just because they can get materials for a cheaper price (bulk prices) just beacuse they are such a big MANUFACTURER, not neccessarily a SKI COMPANY. They may have skis that ride well but they don't have enough of them that ride well.

Elan sucks. Hate me.
