Entire new set up

hi. before i start, dont reply with searchbar, or telling me to use the equipment forum, cos we know nowhere near as many people use those. right, here we go. i am spending the season in verbier, which kicks ass, however, all i have is my old pair of fujatives that are 159's. i am 6 foot 2 and 155 lbs, so they arent much good. i want to get some new skis and boots for the season, and this is what i require: 40% park, 30% piste, 30% pow. when i ski the piste, i like to really charge it as i used to race. if anyone has any ideas for skis and boots that would match my requirements it would be a great help. i have made the decision hard for myself by researching too much! i feel i now have so many options! awesome, cheers guys.

karma(sp), Foil, PE's, Chronic to name a few that would be good and as for boots go to a shop and get fitted

go for the salomon set up. 182 foils, mounted with 9-14's. Then look at the foils or guns or something like a pair of the softer falcons like the 9s for boots. This will have you ripping like a racer and flying like dumont. but seriously it would be a sick setup.

i woudl agree with the foil ski part, or the karma's as far as boots go. i think you'd like the salomon x wave series, depending on your foot type, i have the 9's and they're bomb

PEs go up to only 179 in length which is gonna be pretty short on you, i just got 185 karmas and im like 6'1" or something and theyre at my upper mid forehead.

Good point on the length of the PE's. If you think that'll work for you though, they're my recommendation. I'm 6'0 and I'm on last years and they do anything i want them to do and do it well. As for boots, can't really help you there, I don't know jack about boots...

maybe some msp's and a frnt binding. as for boots dalbello has some nice fitted boots this year that really have some feel

for skis go with chronic blends. get fitted for boots at a shop and gte some look bindings. my opinion

when in doubt go wider, Seth Vicous 189, is a big mountan tool but if you charge it will work,  or go with the 185 scracth BC if you are woried about not being able to control a biger ski due to you wieght.

are you guys SERIOUSLY reccomending foils and thrusters?!? this cat used to race. those skis are way too soft and way to turny. definatly go with something like a Karma. that ski is dirty. pretty much the best one ski quiver you can get. other suggestions would be the 4frnt MSP. I have issues with 4frnt, but that ski does rip very hard. its a bit big for park, but itd work. it holds a VERY good edge, and is just generally a pretty sick ski. maybe the 9ward MIPs or somethin, dunno bout them. from what ive seen, they seem really well built. i wouldnt go PEs. they are fuckin heavy for thier size. other than that good ski, but the karma kills it. as for boots, the krypton pro (not the damn rampage) is super versitle, and can be set up from rampage soft to raceboot stiff with a few tweaks. the salomon Falcon series kicks some serious ass. if you have a wider foot, the Dalbello reflex 11 is similar to the krypton, just wider (its not the same boot thou, it can be made to be similar with a few mods). tthe technica diablos are liked by some people, i personally found the fit and flex to be the exact opposite of what i like. im not too familar with HEADs offerings these days, but check those out too.

^ too soft? hes 155 lbs, thats not the kind of size for a super stiff ski, i dont care if he used to race having a too stiff ski still doesnt work. Hes 6'2" and 155 lbs, not exaclty a beefy guy

dont go with anything under 90 under foot. youre in verbier, pow will be your focus for sure. do you actually dedicate 30% of your time on groomers, other than getting to the park or getting to pow?

yeah i do. i love going fast and carving hard. part of me still wants to be a racer i guess. i cant do that on my fujatives which are way too short anyway, theyre only good for urbaning or buttering around in my room whilst waiting for the snow!

everyone else. thanks for all the info. keep it coming, its very useful. dont know if 155 lbs IS my weight, i tried to make a rough calculation. i am 172 lbs (my maths is shitty!). anyone have any views on head mojo boots, i hear they are stiff this year. please keep opinions coming. this is what makes newschoolers a beautiful place!

Get the rossigional 155 or 180 race binding. Do not get salomon bindings as the wings on them are prone to destroy boots. every pair of salomon bindings ive owned, have either worn holes in the toes of my boots, or have broken do to their poor construction. the rosi bindings however is all metal, so while it is a little heavier, it will last you forever.

Man he is 150 pounds, hes not gunna over power that ski. foils are really light too so it your really worried about over flexing the ski you can get like a 3mm riser to stiffen her up
