Hello all you californianans dudes, or watever, ok yea im from like Oregon so we are obviously just the wayer chiller of the few. Alright so i went down to california last week to look at Pitzer college. The city life was not good at all, but tolerable, i dont like the so-cal lifestyle. The college was obvioulsy awesome lots of hippies like myself. But i went up to the Big Bear Lake area and i found even in teh summer it was a great relief from the city. In the winter i imagine it would be amazing. But i was just wondering how much snow does the mountain/city of Big Bear Lake actually get in the winter. in a lot of the videos it looks like its all man made snow....

you'll probably get like 5-7 days of decent fresh dumps a year in a good year. it's mostly manmade stuff. really fun parks though.

ya, the times I have been there, its all man made, and then dirt in the trees between runs. And If you dont dig it, why dont you go to UC Davis or UN Reno. or SLC

i ski at bear about 1/2 of my days on the hill and yes it is 99.9% man made snow, when its snows there's no pow days, unless you want to work for them and hike mt. baldy. but yes the park is sweet and the atmosphere is pretty cool too, there are the usual so cal tools but mostly every one is just stoked on riding.

It is one of the 5 Claremont Schools in the town of Claremont, like about 40 miles east of LA. Also, does Mt. Baldy get a lot of natural snow? it was a 30 mintue drive from the campus up to Baldy

i go to cal poly pomona which is about 15 minutes east of claremont. no baldy does not get that much snow but when they do it is awsome. they do not make snow or groom runs so it needs to snow a lot for it to be decent there. the 04-05 season was so much fun there. Mt high is another resort in so cal it is closer then big bear but is smaller and is pretty much all snowboaders who ride there.

so many fucking babes at LMU. i know a couple chicks on the soccer team that came from my high school.
anyways, big bear sucks and mountain high sucks. manmade snow sucks.
baldy is insane. not the little dinky ass resort, but Mt. San Antonio. park your car at 6,000 feet, and hike up to 11,000 where you can get a clear view of the ocean on a nice day. the top of baldy has a bunch of culoirs and bowls. lots of technical shit up there.
if you want to ski at a resort, just make the 4 hour trip to mammoth on days off from work and school. so cal skiing isn't worth the crowds, the jackasses, and the time.

^damn sean, waaaay too much hate on a mountain you've skied like twice. don't be a tool.
Bear is about 60% man made most winters. We usually get a few good dumps a season and there is a lot of dope powder tree skiing right off the chairlift, you just have to know where to go. the park is unbeatable beacause they make it super easy to progress from little shit to the bigger stuff, with a little of everything.
they're making a lot of changes with everything this year so this is going to be a really really sick winter.

You dont hike up dumb ass... there is a lift.

ps. mammoth is like 5 hours from LA if you drive fast.

hey you fucking piece of shit... a lift to the top of baldy? i don't think so... there is a dinky ass resort on the side, but that's not what i was talking about.
p.s., it takes longer to get to mammoth if you live further away. make sense? nobody ever said LA.
