I'd say why not save the dough and just get an ar6. unless you are really into pipe I think the ar6s would be just as fun to ski everywhere else. and did they use weaker edges in the pipe cleaners to save weight, I cant remember?? if thats the case definately ar6 if its your only park ski.
first i will say that i am getting pipe cleaners so i am bias.
with that said, i think the pipe cleaner is going to be an amazing ski that is going to blow people away when they ride it. i have held it in my hand and it has a shit ton of pop. it is basicly a super g ski with a twin tip. it has a race base and race edges. while its dimensions resemble that of the ar6, i promise you, the 2 skis are going to be totaly different. im super stoked to get mine!
theres 1 and definitely only 1 disadvantage they have to the ar6 and that is the edges. But having held them up against each other its actually not even noticable.
basically they are the best all around twin on the market today. (east coast groomers, ice, park, pipe)
i'm pretttty sure the edges are the same. just think about it.... edge thickness/durability won't change because of a weight issue; it's too minute to comprimise. it's the same stuff. both have two and a half mm thick edges.
^ nope its built for pipe speedy base, smaller edges it will blow up sooo quick on rails, dont waste your money unless you get them for what there made for.. think about it.. tanner has been on them for the last 3 years in the pipe not the park.....
OK so now i know whats up, the ski has a lighter core and less material so the edges may be the same thickness but there isnt the buff stuff above them to support them on impact from rails.i think i got it that time.
the pipe cleaners run shit. i skied all three armada park skis last season at test fest. the thalls and the ar6 felt pretty similar, but the pipe cleaner blew them both away. they're sooo fast. if you mostly ride pipe and hit big jumps and stay clear of rails for the most part, get these sticks for sure. if you do rails more than 15-20% of the time, get the ar6 or the thall.
remember what base you have when speed is an issue, you might not want to start as high as everyone else.. i hate worrying about that , i never get it right and die alot.
the funny thing is how fucking wrong you are. hahaha..these things will ski soooo much better all over the mountain than the ar6. god you kids are dumb.
whop the fuck are you calling a kid. Look at the armada catolog, the ski falls under the bit hit/pipe catorgory. I never said that it couldnt handel all mountian, just that like several of the other armada skis thats not what its built for.
well their category is pipe and competition, so i'm pretty sure what armada had in mind for this ski was getting center mounted and skied in parks and pipes. for all mountain if you ski anywhere that puts your bases in jeopardy they probably wont be as good because I doubt the racing base stuff is as durable as the base on the ar6. If you can afford to spend $600 on a park only ski this would prolly be sick. otherwise if you want armada you might as well just get the thall. Unless you do mad comps where its key to be able to get mad speed and go big thalls would probably be just as much fun.
Are you really comparing the Thall to the Pipe cleaner?? Both Thall's are Ar6's are MORE park specific than the pipe cleaner. You don't need to read a cataloge to understand where a ski would handle well. I don't need to know that it is "listed under pipe/competition" or whatever.
The characteristics of a "competition pipe ski" make it a great carver and fun all over the mountain. If you had ridden the CR/Candide and compared it to the teneighty of a few years back you would know exactly what I was talking about.
This ski is better for every single aspect of the mountain minus sliding rails than the ar6 is, and if you have held both skis you know that you can't even see the edge difference.
But to say this ski is only for big hits/ pipe is straight up dumb. Did you fail to consider the fact that a faster base, more nimble core, and overall more reactive ski make for better all mountain performance????????
