last year i got a pair of 164 pe's. i had intended to start in the park, but realized i'm a wuss. i was just looking at this years skis for the first time this year and saw the silencers. i was planning on keeping the pe's but i'm wondering if i've outgrown them. i'm 5'10" and about 120lb. i haven't quite given up in the park yet, but i'm thinking i'll be skiing the mountin 80-90% of the time.
so...
should i keep the public enemys, get the silencers, or something else that's not a twin tip

you should get karmas or something along those lines if you want to ski all mountain but still have a twin

the karma's look nice but i'm seeing about $500 for the '06 and $600 for the '07. that's more than i want to spend... where should i look for a cheeper price
also what do you think about the sizing of my current pe's, and what i should get if i get a new pair of skis.

Unless you're planning on gaining about 40 lbs. sometime soon I'd look into the Salomon Foil or Armada AR5.
To get a Karma that you'll be able to flick around and press easily you'll have to get in a length so short that it will probably be unstable.
If you want a fatter ski the Line Mothership is a lightweight ski with a nice flex.
I think you'd be hard pressed to do much better than the Foil for your size though. If you snagged it in a 174 you'd still have about 25 lbs. of weight to put on before you'd start to find yourself overpowering it.

yes and no. not everyone wants a ski that is unstable and will flob around like a flounder. if u like stiffer, beafier skis. than the karma will be ok. but the foil would be a better choice for sure.(becasue he is lighter)

Well I don't mean press and flick around like in a park sense regarding the Karma. I just meant that in order to get into a Karma that he'd be able to really press hard through turns and keep under control in the crud and junk he'd probably have to get on a 161 based on his weight...
The problem is that because of his height a 161 would be pretty sketchy all around.
But yeah... the Foil would be a really solid ski to be able to progress with and grow into based on his weight.

getboards has the 07 Foil for $550 and the 06 for $400 but not in a good size. $400 is probably the max i want to spend on skis, so what are some other sites to checkout for the 06 model?

None of the usual suspects (tramdock.com, evogear.com, backcountry.com, untracked.com) are showing stock of the '06.
However eBay has some decent deals to watch on both the '06 and '07 models.
It might be worth searching on Craigslist.org in some ski heavy areas, ie. Portland, Seattle, Nevada, Salt Lake City, Denver, etc.)

If you want cheaper karmas get PEs. They serve the same purpose and maybe aren't quite as good but pretty dern close and wayy cheaper. unless you wanna ski a lot more park the silencers probably aren't very good it's sounding like they are gonna be fairly useless outta the park

it looks like a pair of 174 pes or foils might be my best bet. the karma seems like the best ski, but i don't know if i want to spend the $$ for the 169, and i'm afraid 177s would be too long.

I'm now looking for a pair of 177 karmas. Where should I be looking for last years or the best price for this years? You can also give advice for the 174 foil.
