ARMADA

I got a question about the new ar6.

I heard that last year (ar5) they were built in a shitty factory in asia or so. That they broked easly and the quality wasn't there.

Then, this year, is that right that they are now built in austria where other good skis are made ? I went to my shop and saw them... And actually They gave me this impression of a random job on them.

But it may be just and impression... I need to know if those ar6 are really good skis ? If they got a decent core and a good construction like the big name as Dynastar, Rossignol or Head.

What do you think?

i think if you have any problems with them you'll be left holding a pair of broken skis crying to your mommy. they won't take care of you

the first year the ar5 was released, quality was at its worst, but as the years went by, the ar5's began taking shape as being very durable. the topsheet may have some issues with scratches and chips, but overall they are good quality. thick edges too. dont worry about quality, armada makes a good ski.

you're going to hear durability issues with every ski company. why? because freesking involves you taking these little sticks that are affixed you your leg, and using them to jump from 3-4 feet up, depending on the jump, at high speeds, onto a thick piece of metal, and grinding over this metal for the length of the rail. they are going to take hard damage in freesking. edges rip out, they snap, chunks come from your bases...freeskis take tons of abuse everyday.

the new ones are way way way more high quality. every year they've been getting better. plus theyre a little wider, which is nice becassue they were too skinny before

i disagree. yes they are put thru abuse....but that doesnt mean that companies can help prevent that. take my original chronics for example. i have been using them for like 2 seasons and have been doing alot of rails on them. not 1 edge crack. now i have buddies that have armadas and like on their 1st few weeks of skiing them, they have multiple edge cracks.i am not saying line is better than armada, all i am saying is that i still havnt seen the quality from armada...for the ar5/ar6 line anyways.

well it all depends. if you way like 120 pounds your not gonna do much damage but if your like 200+ they wont last long. and also your aggresiveness is a big factor too.

Armada skis have NEVER been made in Asia, in the past Elan made them at their Euro factory and now they are made by an even more prominent European ski company...

I weight in at 190lbs.. Am a very agressive skier and have never had any problems with any sets of my Armada's.
The top sheet will crack and chip on the AR5's, but the 6's I've skied have held up.
Armada has progressive improved over the last four years.
I beleive their warrenty is 1 years from date of purchase, which I think is just about every other manufactures as well.
The new AR6's are a great ski as well. You will not be disapointed witht the quality at all!

Oh- and to answer your question about were they are made: 2006-2007's are made in the same factory as Atomic with the exception I think of the AR3 & JP vs. Julien

I think that it'd be important for you to shut your mouth, considering that you're considering riding a ski made in the same fucking factory as the fucking AR6, meaning that if the AR6 has quality issues, your skis most likely will too.

i just got some ants, and they seem sturdy as hell. the ar6's we have in the shop seem to be well built. the only durability issues i've heard about regarding armada have been in regards to their first year of production models. those ar5's sucked. but since then, they seem to be fine.

Europe =/ Asia. Armada quality has ALWAYS been good, even their first batch was very well made for a first-year-of-production ski, with the exception that the bases were kinda soft and had a tendency to get messed up on rocks and branches. Now, they're excellent. And they've never been made in asia.

Also, their warrantee is fine; I know several people who have been well taken care of.

If someone's skis hold up for several years of hard skiing, someone may casually mention it, but if someone's skis break within a year, they are gonna freak out and throw a huge fit...so if you have armadas that have held up, make a post and stop the whiny bitches from influencing everyone

I have a pair of the very first AR5s (black/green flacon) &.. One ski was retired last season and is now a "shot ski" the other is a nice coat hanger..
They lasted almost at least 100 days
Second gen AR5's (Cityscape) held up for one solid season for me and now they are used about 25 days/year by a co-worker.
Third gen AR5's (Mad steez) Still have two sets sitting in the basement somewere that need to be sold.. Any takers? Didn't see too much last season and still look great (181cm & 176cm).
Point of story:
I've skied Armada's for the last few years and never had any problems.. I'm not saying that you might not, but I'd be 99% sure that you'd be super stoked on a new set of AR6's. Armada is a great company, makes great products, and will stand behind what they sell.

i got the red ar5 in 180 with about 100 days on em. still holding up like a champ, only one edge crack. thalls from the first year that are holding up like chanmps, they have about 7 esge cracks from just getting beat up on rails. i got a pair of ant's from last year. all i need to say is bombproof. ive landed right on top of a rock and the bases are still imaculate. i have a pair of blue 180s from last year i got at the end of the season, and im shure there going to hold up great. this year, im also getting the arv and the pipe cleaner. im convinced that armada makes a quality product. and this year that quality is going to be even better being that the skis are produced in atomic's factory. if you dont think armad is a good ski, you havent rode them. ive held the new ar6 and played with them a bunch. i think youll be super super stoked on that ski man, its sick. get it!

armadas were made by elan techs n presses before, now i dont think they r. They were never made in asia, only composite skis, non wood core skis r made in asia, like shitty ass salomons

i'v had my ar5's two season and not one edge crack yet, they only get munted on the topsheet which doesnt worry me cause their covered wid snow most of the time anyways and that shit doest affect the quality of the riding at all

ive got 2 year old arvs with dinged up topsheet but the base/edges stay immaculate.  ski construction is almost all good these dyas, so what really wrecks your skis is you. seems obvious but kids snap skis on rails and complain about durability. sending 150-250lbs of skier on the tail of a ski is an unrealistic thing to engineer for

thats where your wrong. So far not many freestyle skis have really went that far off of the original design of a good race ski, twin tips, better edges, some topsheet and base changes, etc is about it. For the most part we are on really souped up race skis. Skis werent originally designed to take freestyle, and so far I dont think they have udergone eneough major change to say that they are. They are still a piece of wood or foam with some bells and whistles we go down hills on, I doubt that basic design will easily stand up to what some people manage to dish out to there freestyle skis.
