GREAT idea for those without tramps

Aight guys, I came upon a great idea tonight while out for a run. I go to school at James Madison U. in Virginia and I went running around the football stadium track. When I get there I find the track and field team has their stuff all set up. Well, normally I wouldn't care, BUT they had all the padding and stuff out for the pole vaulting.
Okay, in short: free tramp practice. I have one of those gay little ones that kids have. So I take it over there and set it up in front of the pads. It is sweet because I can get a running jump on the tramp, get about 5 ft of air and land on the pads. I was trying mostly fronts and lincolns since it is hard to run backwards :D
So it isn't close to as good as a big tramp, but for those of you who go to a major university, check it out...

well, funny part is, I don't have a pool I can go to regularly. Should have mentioned that before. The only pool I can get to is in the apartment complexes, which I am too lazy to go to. Oh, that and I am too chicken to try a front flip off the 40 ft querry I go to ;P But, but the pads are good prac to see if you can stick the landings :D

its just a suggestion doods. and it makes more sense then a reg tramp cuz you get the feeling of moving forward and doing ticks not just straight up and down. i would prefer that over a big tramp for technicle stuff.

dude u guys, calm the fuck down..i think it is a good idea...im on my skool track team (34 girls 11 boys) and i was at a track meet yesterday, and they ahd the thing for the high jump set up, and after the meet, i would jus run and jump and i was doin lincolns and stuff...its pretty damn fun

I've used mini tramps for a while, it's more realistic to skiing then a fullsize tramp would be, because like you said - you are moving forward, and you are landing on the ground.
Don't get pads, pads are for pussies. your grandma wears pads.
But if you really want pads, steal a whole bunch of wrestling mats

The big storm in MArch put a bunch of snow in my friend's lawn. THe week after we got another foot of snow, so there was like 3 feet of snow in his lawn. So we busted out his little tramp and put it in his driveway by the lawn(his driveway had been plowed). We would run and jump into the snow. I was working on my Lincolns and my misty's.

hey snoasty, screw you, i vault too, its the shit and it really does help you with spotign landings and 'air sence'. Plus the mats are bouncey as all hell i was landing mistys, backs and fronts on our mat. it helps alot more than you think

I'm a pole vaulter too. It's not only us skiers that are doing the flips. A lot of people from other events come over and try flips. It wouldn't look that weird.

i pole vault too. if you drive your knees up really hard when you plant the pole, and when you get vert just keep going but tuck and you'll flips. i've gotten 4 full back flips, almost 5

Pole vault mats are perminant, they just throw a cover on the rat/mice infested things, you can do it anytime. High jump mats are perminant too and they are lower than pole vault mats. And his idea with the tamp and mats is better than a pool, less of a chance of killing your back or neck when you screw something up. Don't ya love people that shoot everyone else down, i sure do...
