So i think my canon mini DV camera is toast, it got moisture damage last year, lots all of the best footy, got that fixed but now the tape got all caught up inside and i think i may have fucked it over trying to get it out. Basically ive had it with stupid tapes and was wonderig the differences in quality and ease of editin between Mini DV, DVD, and Hard drive, im kinda leaning toward hard drive but let me know what you think, thanks

id wait on the HD cameras until the technology gets better and the harddrives get larger.. mini dv is still the norm for shooting with 3ccds etc... HD cameras can break easy when dropped (not sayin you should drop your camera) but the ball bearing drive is easier to break than a tape.. plus if you break a tape you are out one tape as oppose to the whole camera..

don't do dvd or harddrive; theyre aimed towards shooting family movies with ease
mini dv's arent bad it sounds like you just need a new camera, they are the way to go

Avoid DVD like the plague. They are impossible to edit with so unless you want to shoot 30 minute movies with no editing don't get one. I'm not sure about HD cameras with editing but they aren't very durable.

yea it sounds like DV is still the way to go, anyone got any experience using one of the newer ones with a touch screen, im a little hesitant about these, sound rather fragile.
