Help Me Ski in My Front Yard!

Ok guys, my new house is in Washington, DC and has a long strip of yard (about 30 feet) in front. It is flat and does not slope. How can I best build a rail on it? Can I fit a rail and a wooden ramp for speed? How should I get snow? By trucking zamboni snow from an ice rink? A home-made snow gun? This is my first attempt, so any help will be appreciated. Thanks all.

well it depends, if you can get natty snow then you can use the turf as a base, but yea invest in some carpet, and with water and some soap your all set.

sweet, I've never gone without snow before, sounds like I can use this for rail sessions all summer. A)Can you get grip to turn on carpet? B)Will this wreck my skis?

I'm planning on a rail in the yard, and bigger rail/jumps in the park next door (it's got a beautiful hill). I just need something to slide on and to figure out how to build a roll in without pissing off the neighbors.

It's not the building shit that is a problem, it's the space and the lack of snow/cold. These are the problems I need to overcome, any suggestions?

build a big drop in and make the rail so its somewhat a down rail. So just make one end higher than the other. And yet put some turf/carpet down on the drop in, ramp, and landing so you can hit it when there isnt snow.

if theres no slope, make a start ramp with carpet or turf, then build a box or rail or whatever and have a hose handy, 30 ft. is plenty
All times are Eastern (-5)
