Jon in new Freeskier

Did anyone else read the Jon profile in the new freeskier. Wow... I had no idea what an icon Jon truly is and how amazing the JOI is. The skiers were taken by a helicopter from the airport to Are to save a 1.5 hour car ride. Jon had a filming tower put up after a request 24 hours ago. This is some crazy superstar shit.

Jon is cool but Freeskier needs to quit writing these articles that are just buttering up different skiers, and not about their skiing. Like the Dumont article. Its talking about him like he's a holocaust survivor. And the Jon Olsson article acts as though he made a colony on the moon. So he's rich, i sort of don't give a shit. I like reading stuff about people having fun skiing, like the thing about the 4frnt team. I dunno whatever.

Yeah good point, jon is an interesting character but id rather read about skiing... this is why i enjoy Powder mag so much, it pretty much only is about the mountain lifestyle and the people who dedicate their life to our sports, in other ways that being pros I mean...

he is the mas dude... im glad he cut his hair though, he was seriously looking like a girl. its kinda wierd he useto be a punk kind of skier, or he seemed to be in the older ski moives, he alwasy would wear headphones and a tank top.

First off. Of course I'm jealous of Jon Olsson, I never said I'm not. He's mad rich, he's a sick skier, and he pretty much gets to do whatever he wants.

Second, I never said anything about European culture, I have no idea where you're coming from. I didn't say I didn't like Jon, or I don't think he's cool. I think he's so sick, even if i don't dig his loafers so much.

Third, All I'm saying is that if i want to read about how rich people are, I'll buy Entertainment Weekly. I love to ski, and I like reading about skiing, not about how people spend the money that they earned by skiing.

dude if they wrote about like some unknown skier that had like no money, but the article was about how he has like 4 dogs and is married, I would say the same thing. Its nothing to do with Jealousy, I love my life, I would rather read about shredding.

Yes, but you're missing the intentions of the article. It talked about how Jon worked his ass off to get where he is at now. The article was supposed to be inspiration to the shredders that haven't made it big. It was showing readers that hard work pays off and anybody can do it if you bust your ass like Jon has done.

if he was just a random skier I would be sort of questioning the article, but its jon flippin olsson. He has done quite a bit for our sport and has been aty the leader of the pack for quite a while.that deserves some pussy.

I agree Jon's busted his ass to get the sport where it is today, but Monaco and Lambhorgini's? I don't want to judge Jon too harshly but I'm really not a fan of the whole Europlayboy culture. I know its a different manifestation of the ski culture, but I think most people would rather read about dirtbags storm chasing than sipping wine on the French Riviera.

i didnt like the article that much. something about it, Jon is some rich superstar, i like a skier who works hard and goes alls balls for the sport. Jon says "i dont belive in going big i belive in perfection" (or some shit like that) . Jons really, really good at skiing but hes hinda a pussy compared to the rest of the skiers

man you are an idiot. jon is such a badass its not even realistic. he is always progressing the sport and going huge WITH perfection. Jon is on another level of skiing than someone that just throws themselves off huge kickers and cliffs(cough)WILSON(cough).


i would say that jon is up there with candide and tanner.

Ok, so I haven´t read the Freeskier article (You dont find Freeskier in Sweden). Though it was a big interview with Jon in a swedish magazine recently where he talked about his life in monaco and that he have done some serious money doing what he loves.

First of all I can tell you that he is not one the most famous people in Sweden, far from.

Second, he is not some spoiled playboy who lives in Monaco for the expensive lifestyle. He admits that he loves to live their (I wouldn´t mind either) with all the nice cars and expensive stuff. But he doesn´t live there because of all that. He lives there because of the extremely high taxes in Sweden. In Monaco there is virtually no tax at all. By living there he hopes to secure his future financially.

I don´t know Jon in person, though I´ve meet him a few times on and off the slopes and all I can say is that he is a very humble guy who loves what he is doing. Compared to many other skiers on the scene he is competitive and eager to progress rather than lying on the couch smoking weed.

All in all he is a ski loving guy, like anyone of us, who made it big and now trying to make the most out of it.

Yeah Jon is my favorite skier of all time. Even in the Propaganda days when I was like 9 years old I still loved how he was smoother than every other skier out there. Don't get me wrong, skiers like Vanular and T Heed are good at big spins and urbans and blah blah but Jon is my favorite because he is a perfectionist. He doesn't do switch 1260s or any hucked shit. The biggest spin I've seen him do recently is a cab 7 WITH a perfectly still nose mute.

these articles are what bring out the character of the skiers, you can see their skiing everywhere and thats all you see all the time. Its good for a little change to show the other side of the skier.
