does anybody have an essay that is either for it or against it. i need some ideas for mine. i have to write an essay on a controversial topic so i thought i would choose marijuana. thanks.

easy paper: legalize marijuana. read up on the prohibition of the 1920s, and draw comparisons - such as the money that could be made by taxing the sale, the fact that it is considerably safer to use than alcohol (subjective)... its pretty easy to write a paper with positives, as well as cons..

can someone fully explain it. isent it illegal to buy or grow but it is legal to have it? how do you have it without buying or growing it?

o god.  is it another one of those "choose a controversial topic where you can go either way" essays? 

i did one that was actually relevant to my life and society like two years ago.  there's this whole thing about putting windmills in the ocean for alternative energy which we really need, but at the same time it would ruin the enviornment around us, the fishing inudsty and could have an effect on surfing as well.  it was cool because the essay was for my "Power and Energy" class, so i needed really strong points to prove why this type of alternative energy shouldn't be used on long island. 

sorry that didn't help at all, but yea if you need facts or something for the mary-j essay, lemme know.

Don't forget to add the bad things about marijuana to your essay. Maybe when your comparing it to alcohol state how weed CAN (not always) be a gateway to much worse drugs unlike alcohol.

yea but alcohol can also lead to destructive decisions such as other drug use or STD's.  if you're like completely wasted or something and you're with people doing other drugs, you could easily start doing stuff. 

i know what you mean though because that's one thing i talked about in my powepoint, but still, alcohol can do worse things than make you throw up and have a hangover.

A controversial essay and you picked marijuana? how original? Pick something else.

All of the college professors at my school won't allow anyone to write controversial essays about, marijuana, abortion, the death penalty, or gay marriage.

And you're actually asking for help on this??

Do one on something ski related, it will probably be real easy once you start typing.

isnt the thing in colorado not that its legal but that if you are caught carrying less then an ounce and are over 21 its only a misdemeanor rather then a felony? which is pretty big cause that stuff wouldnt show on job apps or college apps or cause you to go to court or anything. but its def not legal in any way. it will be soon. its less harmful then alchohol as long as u look at it as weed alone and not the harmful drugs it can lead to.

you mean, closer to 1500 words?  i forget how long a four page paper is. i don't write papes, i'm a science major.

other than that, i wrote a paper on the death penalty senior year. unfortunatel, it's on my desktop at home, and i won't be going back for a while. sorry man, no help here.

the death penalty is way easy to research though.  lots of interesting statistics; like, if a black man kills a white woman, he's five times more likely to get the death penalty than if a white man kills a black woman.
