I ordered five from Ally Distribution and rest assured it will not ship until next week the earliest, same goes for everything else except Anomaly, which is behind schedule and back-ordered on all fronts.
i ordered push. i talked to my friend like 10 minutes ago and hes at the push premire in MSU bozeman and he said it rivals 1242 but i was iffy on that cause he was drunk. but i hear pollards part was the shit and a half.
Pollards part was WAY too short. Those MSP guys need to have way more of him. But I liked Dumonts part. It wasn't as sick as I thought it would be, but it was pretty good. I got in free at our big premier, cause I know a doorman, so it was worth the money.
here's a hint, kiddies: it usually gives ya more credibility when you actually WATCH a movie before judging it. if you watch it and it sucks ass, shit on it all you want, and you might actually get someone to take you seriously.
yes, we all get it... thugged out 14 year olds hate MSP. MSP beat them up and took their lunch money. blah blah blah. it's getting old now.
i saw it, and truely disliked it. it was basically a carbon copy of hit list and somewhat of yearbook. NOTHING in their movies has changed over the years; editing, style, music (oh god) and more. There were a couple good segments, but it doesn't pull the weight of the scanty remains of the rest. Not to mention the extreme commericalism that is starting to parallel warren miller flicks.
but honestly, with a budget their size, they should be able to do soo much more, but they dont. It is mediocre.
THANK YOU! All these kids need to realize that there's something beyond the park.....I think it's called "skiing" or something. Just because the movie doesn't appeal to what you think is fun doesn't mean it sucks, it just means that it's catered toward a crowd that doesn't flash their ass at everybody else on the mountain. Most of the time judging skiing in a movie is very opinion-based, but in this case if you think the skiing was bad you are actually wrong. Open up your eyes to the world that exists outside of man-made terrain and you might grow to appreciate it.
1st off...fuck that man, if i were making a movie and sponsors said theyd give me X amount of money or give me a all expenses paid trip somehwere as long as i throw in their logo and say a nice thing or two about that (one of which how rad they are for giving me the benefits and shit) FUCK YEAH id do it.
2nd...do you know how much a heli trip costs buddy? or maybe how much it is to rent a helicopter, or travel to not only one or two places over the world but go look how many far out places they travel to, all that shit takes BANK. fuck yeah l1p is sick as fuck with their movies but they barely travel (except for the 4frnt trips that are paid for, or the japan trip taht dna funded **ding ding oohhh my gooooddd commercialism eeekk !!!**) matchstick for sure uses all that money, just not in the way that A LOT of people like. but in the way that they use their money, they kind of blow others out of fthe water, except for maybe tgr.
last movie i bought from msp was yearbook, and i thought that was a pretty sweet movie, except for the skibase jumping and some of the footage of their alaska trips where theyre on the boat got a lil tiring.
lastly, so many people give them shit for the heli shots on the whistler booter...can anyone deny that those are some sick ass shots? NO, theyre amazing man! but people give them shit for doing "the same shot blah blah blah" if your so commited to that you should give every fucking movie that shoots from the knuckle of the landing shit, or maybe from the side of the rail...or fuck it, give l1p shit for shooting with a boom for 2 years now...if you direct your hate at msp, direct it to others taht do the same thing then as well. like that guy above said, a lot of people or just jumping on this bandwagon of hate and its retarded.
then again, that does suck about the whole teddy bear/helly hansen thing...nothing is ever really clear cut i guess.
the question is whether or not teddy bear crisis being sacrificed to msp resulted in a considerably better movie from matchstick this year? that is, is push > hit list + TBC ? i'll bet not. give up, msp.
i thought show and prove kicked ass. if you can get past the drama plot and narration, it is full of sick skiing and a good soundtrack. i would buy 10 copies of it before i bought one of push.
Maybe instead of whining about how much you hate MSP you guys should just make a statement by not buying a copy. That way you won't clutter the boards with pointless rants. Also, do you really think MSP is going to change because a few kids on NS don't like their movies? They have a big budget because people buy their movies; there is some reason behind it if you can believe that. I could make threads whining about a few movies I really don't like, but I have better things to do with my time.
How can you say S&P is better than Push? The narration is HORRIBLE, the way the voice echos, ugh. Some of the skiing is good (Seth, and the tree skiing) but nowhere near the quality of MSP (e.g. Hugo Harrison).
Just because you think Tanner/CR are cool doesn't mean you can say the skiing in MSP isn't good, it's rivaled only by TGR and PBP for overall quality (big mtn, park, BC features).
I havent seen either LSS or Push but both MSP and L1p are both pissing me off because they both keep saying something along the lines of "end of this week..." And it's never that week. I want my movies damnit...
I thought it was awesome, although this year Push was actually better than Pull
To all the people saying they should do better with their budget, have you actually seen the movie? It looks stunning, the shots are stunning, the locations are stunning and I believe every single penny went to the right place
