who told you that? the salomon rep? thats complete BS.
on salomon spaceframe skis, they use the fiberglass as the sole load bearing element in the ski. the foam is there strictly to keep it from colapsing on itself. the shape the fiberglass is molded into creates strength. the problem with this, is over time, the fiberglass (not the foam) breaks down. this happens on all skis, but when the sole structural element is fiberglass, the ski goes to hell so much quicker. on a wood ski, the core is the primary structural element, and the fiberglass's purpose is to reinforce the wood. both systems work, but spaceframe shit should not be used in high stress areas like racing and freestyle. wood is far more resiliant, and equally light.
and also, to touch on some other subjects mentioned...
as someone else said, the crucial difference between dalbellos and all other boots is in how the heel is totally locked into place. i have a pair of ZX supersports which have the same system, but in an aluminum buckle. the problem here, is as you tighten it, it stiffens the boot up considerably. the cable buckles do not have this problem. this is also the key difference between the flexon and the krypton. (also, why are they still using that liner? most people i know throw different liners in that boot right off the bat anyway.)
also, the kryton series is SUUCCH a riders boot. everything is customizable, and can be stiffened up to race boot spec, or dropped al the way down to park rat soft, all with out a bunch of heavy, breakable shit hanging off it. if that boot did not fit me well, i too would go the extra mile and make it fit, cause its so much better if your a serious rider than 90% of whats out there.
also, someone said a well fitting raceboot would work just as good in the park, BS. for park, soft footboards, and a good amount of forward flex (distancewise, not so much stiffness wise) is crucial. if youve ever spent a day jumping in an uncushioned boot, you will completely understand. plus, race boots have almost zero forward travel, so you are left with NO room to absorb impacts. while i agree fit is crucial, the characteristics of the boot are just as important, and people always seem to just imediatly jump to fit as the ONLY factor. it isnt.
