...ok?
It's not that hot right now, it's only for people who ski the BC and stuff.
Most people in this site it seems ski park for the most part.

Call it what it is - rocker. The nose and/or tail are 'above' the center of the ski if you lay it flat on the ground. The ski then works more like a wake or surf board. The Pontoon from K2 and ARG from Armada both have rocker. Lib Tech has a snowboard with rocker this year too.

I have to agree, it really is the biggest advancement in skis in recent years. And I've been waiting for someone to build a snowboard like that, does it have reverse sidecut too? If so I might have to pick up snowboarding

Yes, I think it has some reverse sidecut. It may also have magna-traction (I'm not sure on that though). The thing is the name: Banana Hammock. It was developed with Travis Rice for powder jibbing and stuff.

and other companies such as drake powderworks have had the lotus 138 out even before the news of the pontoon came to be (exaggeration).
And there are some more skis like that.
It's not a new thing.

i beleive they and reverse side cut, but i think he is talkin about skis where the tail and tip are considerably higher of the ground then the middle for better float in pow

get in some face deep 45 degree epicness on reverse camber, and it is beyond what it is hyped up to be. the shit is unbelievable, the way you can cream out your turns etc etc.

there is a difference between a rocker and reverse camber, rick.

No they don't, the pontoon is a double rocker, just like the ARG.
Reverse camber is when there is an even bend throuhgout the ski, rockers are when the tip and tails are reverse and underfoot it's flat.

Reverse camber (the tip and the tail are both bent up). A rockered ski has reverse camber.

dear god its like everyone with 200 posts or less is sposting here. The thing is skis are getting fatter and fatter so naturally most companys will want to make a uber-fat strictly pow ski. Now more and more are making reverse cambers and rockers, in the end its just a nother ski that most people on here will never buy and the ones that do buy it will almost never use it.

Here it is...why bother buying a 110-130mm traditional "fat twin"?
There is no real point, at that width the ski's sole use is powder. Don't argue, this is a fact, and yes I own and ski "super wides".
Once you get beyond 110mm you should invest your money in a dedicated powder ski. I have both the spats and a pair of 189 pontoons. I have skied the toons nearly 40 days at alpine last year and they perform beyond the hype.
There is a reason you will see rockered skis on the feet of nearly EVERY charger in Tahoa/PNW this season. Fat twins are useless dinosaurs compared to rockered skis...
so go home, throw out your xxl bagginess, buy some triple layer gortex storm gear and step up to the plate...anything less and you will be laughed out of the line up

i would agree with you, except for the issue of backcountry freestyle. skis like the volkl sumo, atomic thug and birdos puder luder (all of which have > 110 mm waist) may not be quite such good powder skis, but if you're charging a pow line and you wanna end it with a nice 1 off a cliff, your gonna want their twins for landing and riding it out switch. therefore, i would agree that rockered skis perform better as pure powder skis, but super-fat twins are more versatile and thus must not be written off.

As someone who has owned both the Toons and the Spatulas, I will say that the Spatulas are a much better value and may even ski better than the Toons.

where the tips are skinnier than the waist like a water ski giving a floating and no edge catching effect

not really, tel me at least 10 people that you know that has them right now.... i bet you cant. sure companys are making them but that doesnt mean they are hot, i bet that k2 pontoons have the lowest number of sales right now compaired to the rest of the k2 family.

duh, it's such a specifically powder oriented ski. Your average park rat is not going to be interested in a pair of pontoons, just like he won't own a pair of rossi 9s's, or a pair of skijumping skis...

Um, most of the reverse camber skis are twins, Spats, ARG, Lotus...and with the reverse camber, the tail height is actually greater than a traditional twin. The pontoon is a twin, though I can see problems trying to land backwards on a ski with that much taper, but it would throw a sweet roster tail.
Oh, and to "reverse camber is reverse sidecut" nope reverse sidecut is reverse side cut. I think it is actually the bigger advancement. NO hooking, it's incredible, go as fast as you want and stay in perfect control. I'd love to try the newere designs (my spats are going strong) purely for the on-piste performance. I'm sure the advancements have made powder riding better, but I'm pretty happy on the spats in the smooth stuff.

Andy weren't you landing switch on the rockered Made'N/AK Enemy in Ski Porn? I can't remember. Does it affect landing if ski has rocker?
Salomon is also building a rocker ski this year.

No, a rockered ski has a bent halfway towards the tip or tail (on3p conceept) a double rockered ski has rockers on the tip and tail (Pontoon, ARG) , and a recverse camber ski is curved from tip to tail (Spatula). Rockered skis are flat underfoot, or some even have traditional camber underfoot. (Liberty SB series)
