So for this year I am getting an alpine touring set up. I've been checking out bindings and wondering what people know about the Naxo and Fritschi bindings. Is it worth the extra money($120+) to go for the nx21 or the Fritschi Freeride Plus over the n01 if I only plan to ski them backcountry(never at the resorts)? What are people's experiences with these bindings? What problems have people had?
the new freerides are a lot tougher than last years and actually cost more(425 for the freerides plus and 400 for nx21s). and I've got a pair of trekkers but they break to often and I am tired of sending them back to bca.
Ah. Well then. Actually you can get the fritschis cheaper simply because they're the more widely available product, and people resell them. I've seen several pairs go on TGR this year brand new for about $250.
It depends on what sort of skiing you're going to be doing. If you're staying on the ground, some freerides would do you just fine. If you're hitting cliffs you'll need to step up to the freeride plus or NX21. They're both good bindings so it's really up to you to decide which one you want. Personally, I'd go with the NX21.
ive skied both the freerides and the nx21s. If you plan on going airborn at all, go with the nx21s. The nx01s are good for glade skiing, but have seen them break. Freeride Plus looks good, but the nx21 is as good or better. They do go cheap on TGR sometimes, but i doubt you'll find any with the season right around the corner.
i got 2 sets of freerides for 250 each with wide brakes. Brand new. Also got nx21s for 275, new as well. Just keep on checking in the offseason, that is when people sell ski shit to pay their rent.
