Replying to Is PVC weak??

I did use the searchbar just now but I really couldn't find anything related to my question..
I heard that PVC breaks really easily. Is this true?
I have a metal rail but it's too high so I'm going to cut it down.. eventually. A couple weirdos are coming over today to help build and sesh a temporary rail until I can fix my other one. I only need the pvc rail to last a couple weeks.
It doesn't get much colder here than -5 degrees celcius right now, I don't know if that will affect the pvc.
Any other tips would be appreciated.
