I'm looking to put a pair of new bindings on my Elizabeths that I bought at the end of last year. I can get good deals on some Salomon 912's, some older Rossi race 120's that still have the 4 screw pattern and pivot heel, or some new Rossi Axial 120's. I had my Look P10's rip out of my Public Enemys last year so I'm hesitant on that screw pattern. But are the race bindings less likely to rip out than Look P10's? Plus the Elizabeths are soft so I dont want the bindings to come out on them. What do you guys think. I am 5'11 180lbs and an expert skier. Thanks for the help.
old pivots have the tight heel pattern. They are super likely to pull out of a soft ski like the elizabeth. I'd recommend a 4frnt. Bomb proof contsruction. good price. and super wide screw pattern.
and the new Look PX has a better heel pattern than the old ones... however, I think the binding is crap.
if you did use an older style look/rossi binding, just have your bindings expoxied in (as opposed to glue). I had PEs and had bindings rip out 3 times, even after helacoils, because PEs dont have fucking mounting plates. But still, if an older style, go epoxy. As for the new style, those are great bindings, and have a much wider drill patter, so the liklihood of a ripout isn't that great.
But with any binding, if you are worried about a ripout, just get some expoxy in there. Doesn't guarantee anything, but it helps
